I joined the club today. I put a few games on it and everything seems to play great, but I have an issue with the DMD. Some (most) of the text, particularly the text in the test menu, has the top row of dots missing/fading in and out. It is not the DMD as it is only the top row of dots of each letter, even when the text is scrolling up the DMD. It is running the 1.4 CPU ROM and the 1.05 display ROM. Anyone have any idea what I should look at first?

I got to try out my new Escalara to get my SW up stairs. I whish I had bought an Escalara a long time ago.

Scored some Star Wars pinball art to go with my DESW at Disney Word today.

Quoted from paynemic:

That's fun! Hand made?

It is a limited run of gallery wrapped canvas signed reproductions of a set of work by Christian Slade. There are others in the set with a arcade cabinet, a skee ball game, a pusher, etc., all with some sort of Star Wars coin op ride-on beside it.

My daughter gave me this pinball art she got at Comicon for Christmas, thus starting my pinball art collection...

I just installed the ColorDMD LED display in my DESW. I had a polarized glare guard (http://www.pinballlife.com/index.php?p=product&id=2212) installed with my old DMD and left it in when I installed the color LED display. It looks really good and there is no glare. The color LED is a nice upgrade. I wish they had the color ROM for JP.

I was messing around with my DESW last night to see the screens on my new color DMD and realized that the game is spotting me death star hits between balls (i.e., it advances to 3or 4 moons and gives the "death star approaching" callout at the start of ball 2, and then advances to enough moons to drop the death star target at the start of ball 3). Is there a setting for this? I do not recall it doing this in the past and I do not believe I changed any settings. I looked briefly for a setting last night but did not find one.

I definitely have a switch problem as it is regisering points with about every 3rd hit of the left flipper button. Accordingly, I am not sure at this point if the advance of the moons on the death star is from false switch registers or a setting.

Thanks ChadH. Yes, I am running your 1.06 code. I don't remember seeing the option for spot death star moon last night when I looked. I will look again tonight. The odd thing is, I don't remember it giving me the open shot on the death star on the 3rd ball before (after 1.06 code update was installed) and I don't recall changing any settings.

I discovered that my VUK was missing the vertical kick cap and ordered a plunger assembly kit to replace it. The kit came with 3 compression rings (part # 270-5010-00) that I cannot figure out where they go. The drawing in the manual points to the vertical kick cap (part # 545-5227-00) for the 3 compression rings, but does not really show the compression rings in the drawing. Do they compress and go inside the lumen that accepts the top of the plunger or where do these compression rings go? If so, that would seem like it would make it a very tight fit on the plunger.

Quoted from vec-tor:

The three rings fit around the cup stem in order to block the slot
gap and keep the slide pin from coming out. Fit two on first.
Then assembly the up kicker assembly. lay the third ring around
the long stem insert slide pin with cup assembly and then push the
third ring around the bottom of the cup stem and trap the slide pin
in the cup assembly.

Thanks. When the drawing didn't show the compression rings I thought that meant they were not visible when assembled. I never would have figured that out from the drawing.

I used one of these X-Wing fighter figures to add an X-Wing to my DESW (yeah, I know it is from the wrong move, but it is close enough for me). I mounted it pretty high to keep it from getting hit by airballs and to try to keep a good sight path to the deathstar target. It is probably a little too high, but I like it well enough.
