Hi Guys,

I was able to rescued for $150 this SW in regular shape and lots of things missing and of course some issues, starting with the DMD it only shows some information and thats it, missing coils, light bulbs, plastics, etc. It will a long term project....and expensive one!! Hope you guys can help here, the most important parts missing is R2D2 and Death Star internals and I mean everything, motors supports etc, if one you guys known where can I get this parts, please let me know.

Anyway I thing this machine deserves a second chance, I just restored a Williams IJ and Bally JD.

Hi Guys,

Any idea where this connectors go on the CPU Board? The wires are grey-black and grey-violet.

To get everything more complicated, I found this photo and it seems the two wires just go in one connector, not two!!

Quoted from Schwaggs:

Not positive but I suspect you can use the fast version, 74F08 https://www.greatplainselectronics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=74F08

Thanks, I was able to find locally these IC

74LS08N

And

74HCTLS08N

Will they work??

Gustavo

#2102 7 years ago

Thanks again, I already buy them, I will give a try the 74LS08, hope it works ok.

Gustavo

#2105 7 years ago
Quoted from vec-tor:

NOOOOOOO!!!!!! TTL only! period!!!!
There is a lot of noise when driving TIP 122/TIP 102s
LS is low schlocky they tip at low current or whatever.
74HC08 might work NO "LS".....!

Ok, so I guess I got to order them, I prefer to wait, the 74F08 or 74HCT08 will work?

Hi guys,

I wanted to replace the sound board caps, some seems ready to explote, what type and where can I get ideal replacement? The orange color means something?

IMG_0143 (resized).JPGIMG_0143 (resized).JPG

#2166 7 years ago
Quoted from ramegoom:

Just make sure the caps you use are rated at 105 degC. Less of a chance of ballooning. Orange is just the particular manufacturer. They come in all different colors.

Thanks,

I think Great Planes its the place to get them.

Hi guys,

I finally replaced the 6821, now the clicking lights are working, pretty awesome! But appears a new problem, as soon I turn the machine on the laser kick locks on, on the pp board the F5 blow out, with out this fuse if I turn on the game on the kicker locks on, I already check all tip 32 and tip 122 on the CPU board and they are ok, the two coils are ok too.....

Another issue is the laser kick switch, not working now, one pop bumper and one drop target........where to start??

Gustavo

Ps, I want to upgrade the game with chads code, this code is bin or hex?

#2223 6 years ago

This is the machine now, I found out some missing plastics and others are in bad shape, so its going to be a long journey.....

Gustavo

PS, still looking for parts, jaba plastic, falcon millennium, death star entrance, bib fortuna. Any will be appreciated.

#2233 6 years ago

Gustavo

IMG_0155 (resized).JPGIMG_0155 (resized).JPG

#2236 6 years ago
Quoted from vec-tor:

1) Orange = +32 volts for brights.
2) Black-Grey = return for brights.
-- a) 8R during test?.
-- b) 4 #89 lamps on the left side of the game.
-- c) pg. 28 of manual.

Hi,

I will check the manual thanks!!

The bright is attached to the top plastic piece.

I think you mean this one(red circle ), I'm looking for the blue arrow.

Quoted from alistaircg:

I like the red light under your force scoop, what is it plugged into on the board and what light did you use please ? If you could take photos I would appreciate it

Hi,

I agree, those lights looks really cool on the scoops, I used 12v led strips, I think is 3 leds, red and blue. I connected to the 12v from the coin door, will take pictures.

Gustavo

#2288 6 years ago
Quoted from alistaircg:

is there a better place to run them from than the coin door ?

Well, that will depend of the type the led strip you use.

Like I said. The bright is mounted under that center piece
of plastic. It is riveted to it upside down. period! If you have
a new repo plastic, it does not come with a #89 lamp socket.
I took mine off and mounted it under the playfield along with a
#44 bayonet socket; so I could have extra G.I. lighting.

Thanks, you're right, it's hard to see, I don't have the plastic now, I need to do some parts shopping, #89 lamp socket.......

Gustavo

You should have an

Hi guys,

I finally revived the DMD, replaced some zener diode, transistor and caps....still got some sound issue, during the game play obi starts saying may the force..... several times, the music on the background disappears and the effects remain. I suspect is the +12V from the ps, I got 10v, so should I replace the DB1?

Gustavo

#2385 6 years ago

Solve!! It was actually the bridge rectifier.....

Hi guys,

After a long year I was able to restored my SW, still missing a key part, the bar target mech. I bought half part in Mexico through eBay but n very bad shape and incomplete, but that's all I got, had to fabricated the bracket, cam, motor, switches, etc...... hope works.

I got a question for the experts here, I got these switches with just two connections instead three like original ones, can I make them work? How do I install the diode?

Gustavo
