Hi there, not sure if this is the right place to post this or not. I finally got the chance to buy this pin after years of searching. Going to make it all shiny and what not. Have order some parts already to replace, hard targets, Death Star motor sounds like a grinder etc... I’m trying to find a list of all the screw sizes I need for the play field so I can replace them as they are a little grim. Anyone have an idea of what I need? Sry this is my first pin owned and learning as I go.

#3788 3 years ago

Billc - some of the screws are stripped, I had to put mull grips on em to get off. The R2 Body is missing screws. There is a mix of UK and US screws holding stuff together and I don’t have a tumbler. Thought it would be easier just to order all the necessary nuts, screws and bolts to change out so they aren’t Frankenstein pieces instead of removing, measuring then converting everything to fraction sizes....

Thanks for the advice, I definitely will have to do that and learn some electronics. Re soldered a wire to a pop bumper and fried it. Didn’t realise I did something bad until the play area was getting foggy haha fml

That R2 looks brill!! Well done and can’t wait to see it finished. How about a better Death Star next??

#3812 3 years ago

Does anyone know what the original lamp color was for the force scoop? I can’t remember.

#3814 3 years ago

I’ve seen red and blue covers on it. Mine has a yellow LED light on it but I found all the original covers in a box and it has one blue but when the machine came out I don’t remember it being blue.

I just got a new Death Star motor and it doesn’t work. I think I crimped it pretty bad, maybe bought wrong crimper. What crimper size should I order and also how do I go about testing it works? Like what tools do I need?

I got to order more molex connectors cause I busted them all up that I just got and probably need the resistor thing that was in the plug as it’s gotten pretty short and won’t fit another try...

Any help would be appreciated

Hey guys, I’m changing out the led’s to normal bulbs and have a question. What bulb size do I use for like under the slingshots, the lane guides? I’m sure all the leds are #44 that were in the game when I bought it. Where do you use the #47 bulbs. I can’t find an actual placement guide of which sizes go where.

I have a question about nvram.

I just installed it into 5D on the cpu board which is version is 03 and J4 is not there but J5 is. When I take the batteries out everything resets, tells me to open the door. I change the settings back to free play turn off and back on but still says to open door and it’s all reset again. What am I doing wrong?

#3923 3 years ago
Quoted from DJY2J:

I was never able to get my NVRAM installed properly and had similar issues so im following this also

Just got one of eBay the other day, batteries out, new chip in and all works good. I had bought the wrong chip, was just like the original one.

Has anyone ever sent their original R2-D2 head off to be re chromed? I got a price to get it done but worried that it will be destroyed in the process cause of how old it is.

I had ordered a new one but had to send it back as it was to small to fit the blue inner.

I’m ordering a new plastic set and wondering what you use to fit the lamps/brackets onto some of plastics? Pop rivets? The hammer down ones? What size should I order to attach them? Thanks

#3996 2 years ago
Quoted from Kawydud:

The rivets are "squeeze" type. This is the tool I bought to do them - http://www.pintonka.com/

Thanks a lot! What size rivets should you use? I can’t find anything about the size used? And here I thought this would be simple.

#4000 2 years ago
Quoted from vec-tor:

Semi tubular rivets. 1/8 Dia. Sizes by 1/32"
Measure total thickness of components... then add clinching length for total size length.

Awesome, many thanks for that info. Just what I needed to know!

Quick question, I got a new plastic set and found a piece I didn’t have before under the double bank hard target. After putting the new socket holder on the top plastic it seems not to fit now. Can anyone tell me if I have the wrong one or show me a picture of how it should look/be?

Sorry wrong pic. I have the standoffs. The lamp doesn’t seem right to me since I can’t get the top plastic on. I’m guessing the small plastic I didn’t have goes there but now the too piece with the lamp won’t fit?

Ok thanks, I’ll try to fasten it under the play field. Cheers

Question for guys with pinsound, I’m going to order the speakers and sound board but did any of you buy the power booster cable? Is it needed?

#4227 1 year ago

Okay so I got the pinsound hooked up and I’m blown away by the sound compared to the original. What a difference. Only thing I’ve noticed is when I get the Death Star shot during the sequence he doesn’t say “standing by” anymore. Anyone else had or has this problem and if so how did you go about fixing it?

I haven’t ordered mine yet as I’m trying to find a blueprint to remake my cabinet or will have to dismantle mine to copy it but I’m liking the Phoenix arcade decals
