...it wasnt in the cabnet

#1967 7 years ago

What does the shifter actually do in the game ? When and how do I use it ? I get the start with shooting the tie and shooting the stormtroopers

#1971 7 years ago

that entire fancy handle, just for that ?

#1975 7 years ago

where and how could i plug this into my game ?
https://www.amazon.com/Star-Remote-Control-Lightsaber-Light/dp/B01L0DYXGW/ref=sr_1_2

I dont know if this will break any rules here, but does somebody have a high resolution scan or artwork for the translite? mine has faded badly

TIG Welded the ramp, now to polish it up. Welder tells me the ramp snapped because the bottom screws on the ramp lip where loose in his experience, so the repeating vibration from the impact of the ball snapped it.

Any comments or suggestions on this or screw replacement or work around ?

Thanks, skip weld the entrance only surely ? Not the entire ramp

#2082 7 years ago

Has anyone got the artwork or a high end scan of the front cab graphic ? Mines almost gone

Mine looked exactly like that, had friend weld... mistake broke first game. I can pm you the name of a pinsider who fixed mine correctly and permenently. Do it before the side snaps.

Thanks but I'm in South Africa, I doubt your friend is close

Also, has anyone done anything awesome with the Death Star stand up target? Decal? Paint grey?

I saw a nice sticker before I owned the machine, now I can't find the artwork

It was of the target computer of the x wing on the trench run

#2137 7 years ago

Some Free vector Decal options I made for the Death Star and for the targets

Thanks for sharing these!

Stay on target

#2141 7 years ago

Print them on 200 gsm board on any good printer then buy contact laminate (which is like a huge sheet of clear tape basically), and put that on top, get some double sided tape on the back then stick it on the target once you have cleaned the target.

A print shop will print it on a sticker vinyl and can put a laminate over the print, thi slooks the best but costs the most ( then again these are small and wont cost much)

Got my pinsound board today. Which mix is the best to download for Star Wars? The one made by "Julien"?

just dont use the phantom menace song at the beginning with the skill shot, that sacrilege and so many people do

#2171 7 years ago

If I had pinsound, I would put in the track from empire where the falcon goes through the asteroid field track ten on the ost and halfway into the track

#2180 7 years ago

I got carried away when putting in LEDS and now I am not sure where this wireform belongs in the Jabba/Sarlac light stack. Anyone know ?

Star Wars Pinball Blue Pantone swatches

I took out my Pantone swatch book to match the cab blue in indirect clouded soft sunlight, the good news is the Star Wars cabinet blue matches a CMYK breakdown better than the Pantone equivalent. Slight problem, the colour jumps between the front and the side and the backbox on mine, this indicates sun fade on the front, as the side cab and the backbox are close in consistency to cyan - 100%, magenta 35% yellow 0% and black 20% - note you will need a colour calibrated printer to print out a test sample to check, or if you have the money an iris or chromalin proof sheet on colour

Please keep in mind you cant just add white into the mix and hope for a match, it either has to be a new blend or a custom colour mix up from red, blue and yellow, white will just pastel out most of the time.

I will try get a new read in direct sunlight when i dismantle the back box at some point for repair

#2256 6 years ago

One of the reasons im doing this is because I bought a wand scanner and I am going to scan in the artwork at 900 dpi then retouch the cab artwork, with this CMYK match the print will match up to the existing pin cab blue.

WHY ? I currently have two Star Wars machines, the one is in fantastic shape, but the second cab is not, so im going to make new decals, then put them up for free

Retouched High resolution Star Wars Translite, hosted on an independent server http://nitroflare.com/view/F303993C8A3FA9F/Star_wars_655mm_X_570mm_-_02_Final.tif

I lay no claim to ownership or copyright. Its just a fan picture thats freely available for private use

#2261 6 years ago
Quoted from paynemic:

Wow. That download site was just porn link after annoying ad. Can you put it in a Dropbox or something? I'd love to get it but I gave up.
Thanks for doing the work though! Anyone know how to print a translite?

Im worried disneys lawyers shut my dropbox down or give me hassles, so no unfortunately not, the suspect dodge site gives me some anonymity

you need to find someone who does flatbed printing directly onto film or plastic and then have a white print or latex white print put on afterwards, the white back is normally a process of flatbed printing. Make sure you get them to print rich black or under the light in the backbox your blacks will show grey

#2269 6 years ago

Please help.

I have this buzzing sound coming from the right speaker it seems, its getting louder. I took a video of it

What can i do to stop it and make the machine quite?

#2270 6 years ago

If i unplug this behind the DMD it stops

IMG_0989 2 (resized).jpgIMG_0989 2 (resized).jpg

I have done that, i replaced the cable going from the wall to the power box. I just put in a new Rottendog power board and it's allot worse

Hello all, i have a star wars i am doing some restoring and customizing to. I have installed all new plastics and a plastic protector kit. The thing is i have 3 pieces of plastic from the regular kit that was not on this machine. Can someone tell me where they go or are they just extra. I am very curious. I posted this in the restore section also but thought everyone in this area would know all about this machine. Here are a few pics. Thanks

the second one is under the Force plastic

Here is a couple pics of my playfield after I clear coated it. Putting new plastics, new switches, posts, clear rubbers. Waiting on a few more parts. Got pinsound installed.

your machine looks great, I love those red drop targets. where did you get them ?

#2284 6 years ago
Quoted from Haggy38:

I think you mean this one(red circle ), I'm looking for the blue arrow.

I like the red light under your force scoop, what is it plugged into on the board and what light did you use please ? If you could take photos I would appreciate it

#2285 6 years ago
Quoted from TimberOne:

I have never figured out where that trapazoid clear plastic goes. Anyone know?
Did you figure out the smaller ones? They are 1st layer plastics.

I cant even find those pieces on any of the two games I have. My conclusion eventually is that I dont have them so i have no idea where they would go. If you figure it out let us know

#2287 6 years ago
Quoted from Haggy38:

Hi,
I agree, those lights looks really cool on the scoops, I used 12v led strips, I think is 3 leds, red and blue. I connected to the 12v from the coin door, will take pictures.
Gustavo

is there a better place to run them from than the coin door ?

#2289 6 years ago
Quoted from Haggy38:

Well, that will depend of the type the led strip you use.

That looks great, thanks.

Where is that 12v power cable going to ? the main board ?

#2295 6 years ago
Quoted from paynemic:

I would love to have the force scoop light red when it's dark side and the lamp on top be blue when force is lit! That would be awesome.

Oh heck yes that would be

this was asked two weeks ago, I have two machines and that piece in not in either of them , so nobody knows last i heard

#2327 6 years ago

Gotta love extra parts. I had 2 pc left over from a nos set. I think it is from last minute changes. Someone commented a ramp plastic that is not needed.

I have left over crews often when i get carried away and forget how to put things back

Quoted from Zarklin:

ok so starting my first bit of troubleshooting before I place any orders. So Far R2s head does not turn at all and the death star rotates sometimes. Believe there is a relay that controls both motors. I'll be checking that soon, saw someone had bad solder joints on theirs cause a similar problem.
Grounding, there are 2 ground cables in the back box that I'm not sure where they are supposed to go. Logically it looks like they should connect to the dmd panel.

My speakers have a horrendous buzzing that I'm assuming is ground related but have read this is a common DE problem. I plan of putting in a pinsound board but don't want to fry a $350 board if it's electrical in nature.
Next item I'm a bit perplexed on is the force lamp. I swapped in a working 44 from GI. (the manual says all these bulbs are 555 and a bunch that ARE #555 star wars letters are listed as 89s so huh!?) Now the force lamp goes on and off as I'd expect during attract and between balls but seems to flicker. During game play after sinking force the lamp just dims a bit does not go out completely? Almost like it's ghosting but it's not an led? Dirty socket, diode maybe? I've only really worked on EMs so this is an adventure.
I have the manual downloaded from IPDB and I'm trying to dig through it. Anyone had similar before to save me some time ?
Thanks in advance

I have the same buzzing, if I unplug the sound on the front speakers next to the DMD it goes away and the bottom speaker works. I cant find out how to get the buzz gone, it got worse when i put in a new rotten dog power board

Quoted from PinballBeerGuy:

I finally get to join the club! I bought this machine from a local collector and got it set up over the weekend. This is my first DMD machine and, oddly enough, my first machine that uses incandescent bulbs. This is probably the nicest Star Wars machine that I have ever seen; a solid 9.5/10. Playfield and plastics are perfect. There are very minor touchups made to the cabinet. The cardboard shroud behind the coin box is even intact; never seen that before. It does have new code (1.04 so I will need to upgrade to 1.07). I look forward to trying my hand at LEDs and maybe installing a Color DMD or Pinsound board. In the meantime, I will enjoy learning how to play this game.

That cardboard shroud is fascinating, i want to reproduce it for mine, could you please put up some measurements and more pictures?

great condition machine BTW

I have a DESW in operation and I have to switch out the balls every 6 weeks or so. They get hammered! I have a PF protector on the game and nice Titan rubbers, it's in great shape. But I cannot figure out what's dinging the balls so much. Any ideas?

have a look if the screws putting your ramps into the playfield at the start of the ramp are sticking up or out, they act like a knife when getting hit by a fast heavy metal ball

Plastics

I see reference to this piece http://www.pinball.center/en/shop/pinball-parts/playfield-parts/plastics/4155/plastic-for-star-wars-de-4/b?c=2284 but I dont have this piece, is this actually a Star Wars Data East plastic I am missing ?

Then inside the case of my Star Wars I found this piece http://www.ministryofpinball.com/en/game-specific-items/data-east/star-wars/star-wars-plastic-5570.html but I have no idea where this piece goes

Any Suggestions

That piece goes the right of R2D2. in order to keep the ball from getting stuck.

Can you start a game? It could just be the dmd.
Mine is sometimes slow to start up but does eventually come on ~1 min or so.

the wrong coils where installed by the previous owner, the higher amplitude was put int and it kept blowing the power board

Quoted from Tinnhound:

Hey guys, here is a pic of the start of my playfield swap that I am working on, Now I am thinking about re-decaling the cabinet. Does anyone have any recommendations of which decals to use, and where to get them? The only ones I could find were on ebay, and one place in Europe. I am also looking for advice on touch up paint for the cabinet, Thanks!

I cut a thumb size square paint sample chip out of the inside main box at the back with a scalpel, for two reasons:
1. nobody would notice the wood fill later and I could paint the missing piece to test acruracy
2. I knew the inside of the box had no sun damage, or tabaco damage, so the colour was going to be very close to the original blue

I then took that thumb size paint sample chip to a professional industrial paint company and they sent it out to be spectral analysed and then had the paint made up by them based on that. It came out perfect, a 100% match, even under a magnifying daylight balanced LED detail lamp. It also didn't cost to much, I have even given other people my left overs and it matched theirs also perfectly.

As for the decals, I have a high end wand scanner and have scanned in my mint cab and photoshopped everything including the blue to a cmyk output profile, the prices of overseas panel graphics is ridiculous I can get them printed locally for 1/10th of the price some of these people are asking.

I did it for a backup incase.
