Quoted from Jackaltr:I've been told the knocker coils would frequently get robbed to replace a bad shooter coil when on location.
I've bough two 80s and 90s era machines and both were missing the knocker, I'm assuming for this very reason.

Quoted from FLASHBALL:Anyone in here replace all of their plastics with a full set and have spares they might be willing to sell off? I am looking for these two if at all possible.
Thanks![quoted image]
I think I have these two. I’ll check.

FLASHBALL i do indeed have both of these left from my new set that were never used. I’ll shoot you a PM.
D15EC306-F3E7-4FDF-A64F-CB0DD129961A (resized).jpegBeen looking for one for a while and got this which at one point belonged to a fellow Pinside who did some great updates to it including a colordmd, Pinsound and Chad code. Lot of fun, and frankly better than a modern Stern with those updates.

Thanks! It’s actually a bunch of post cards from a set I bought at Disneyworld and had framed.
Quoted from shepP:They look great! Where did you get them?
From my son's old toy stash . They are actually HotWheels and made of metal so they should hold up nicely. I've seen several others use the same line of HotWheels on other placements on these and newer Sten machines I just had never seen these two particular ones. https://www.amazon.com/star-wars-hot-wheels/s
Here's a summary of mods based on those noted and others I've seen and think look great.
1) Pinsound (probably the first thing I'd recommend)
2) Chad's Code
3) Cliffy protectors
4) ColorDMD or Pin2DMD
5) Star Wars Hot Wheels or Micro Machines mounted to your choosing
6) Art blades, several options to choose from
7) Custom lightsabers that tie into the GI (several types and sizes people sell)
8) Apron cards are easy and I think a nice way to pop some new art in
9) Custom stickers on the drop targets and Death Star door
My Star Wars already had some LEDs but still was missing a bunch. For reference the back glass was maybe only 20% and the playfield only had about 10%. The poppers and inserts all already had LED. Also added strip light to the back and drain hole.
Made a big difference and really helps you appreciate some of the great art on this one.

Here’s the full plastic piece for reference.

How about the other 2?
I have those too.

Wanted to ask the group a question. When playing a game, sometimes the right flipper doesnt flip, other times it flips just fine. Is this a common issue possibly related to the flipper board?
[quoted image]
Regarding the right flipper, have you adjusted the distance of the contacts on the button, or even just cleaned them?
I had a similar sound issue on a Data East Lethal Weapon. It needed new sound ROMs. Those are relatively cheap so may be worth getting a new set. You can buy them individually but I’m not smart enough to figure out how to specific which is failing.
I always struggle to hit the scoop. Anyone have recommendations on hitting it more consistently? I can’t really get the angle with the left flipper unless I get a favorable bounce and with the right I can’t reliably hit it.
Quoted from cwachs:I just picked up a DESW that is in decent condition. Playable but need some plastics replaced and a bit of ramp work. Play field is in good condition and the cabinet was repainted and cleaned not too long before I picked it up. This really is a fun game to play. It is seeing almost more play time than my Rush.
I have ordered a pinsound card for it, a shaker and a LED kit (almost all lights are still incandescent). Looks like firmware is 1.04 but I can't tell which exact firmware - or have not figure out how to check that yet.
I am planning on getting Chads firmware for this. I see a handful of options for upgrading and I'm going to ask a basic question here... I don't have a ROM burner so I am going to get the chips pre-configured and throw Chad some bones. If I am using the pinsound card and sounds downloaded to it, do I need to upgrade the sound ROM? Are those sound ROM chips on the old (factory) sound card? Do I need anything more than just the 1.07 CPU ROM chip? The game has the original orange LED and I plan on keeping that for now so do I need a display ROM upgrade as well?
Thanks! I'm sure I'll have a few more questions as I begin to dig into this game more and work on some additional issues.
Welcome to the club. Pinsound makes this a really fun machine, good choice.
I have some new plastics that I never used if interested. I've been selling them for $10-$15 each plus shipping.
Quoted from flashinstinct:Looking for someone do measure the drop targets and the large target inside the death star.
I'm currently finishing u my target decal Star Wars Data East and need some help.
Free set for person who measures and test fits. Send me a PM
[quoted image]
Neat idea. I sent you a PM.
Quoted from FLIGHTDOCTOR:Do you have the jabbas palace plastic still for sale? Thanks
Yes I do. Note this one is new, but it’s flat unlike the original. See photos.

IMG_3116 (resized).jpegIMG_3121 (resized).jpegQuoted from mcmnky:For people who have Yoda lit up in green on the back glass, what LED did you use?
I used the green rubber light cover that came with the original incandescent on top of a standard LED. Works well enough. Alternatively I know Comet LEDs has green LEDs if you want to go that route.
Yeah that sounds like a bad connection somewhere on that battery area. If you are going to go through the effort of troubleshooting that and fixing whatever it is just do it right and install nvram, it’s pretty easy to install on. Plenty of kits available.
