Someone please tell me I can turn off the sound on the updated sound code where the music sounds like a strange scratch record with SW characters sounds.
*Edit* running 1.07 code
I just received this switch for the trough of my DE Star Wars from Marcos but it doesn't look like the switch in my game. Maybe you take the connector off and can solder the wires on so it works ok... but the big thing is the housing doesn't match so how does it properly stay in place? Perhaps everyone knows how to replace these. This is my first DE game so please help!
Yeah that is more like what I need. I am confused. When ordering pinball parts I have always just pulled up the number from the manual and searched for it and got what I need. The number from the DE Star Wars manual don't match with the right parts. What am I doing wrong?
Quoted from SDM0:What am I doing wrong?
Nothing... Marco is going by Williams part style...
Their are Data East games with the Williams style outhole.
Data East change part design... never updated the manual to new part#.
Any one have any advice for an intermittent death star bar motor? I hear it trying, but it hits certain spots where it just doesnt want to go any further. Do I just have to order a new one?
The screws at the bottom of the bar are retracted and the target bar slides very smoothly. So im sure its not binding up.
Thanks

I hope this helps.
Here is Data East LW3 outhole setup:
The game uses the new micro switch setup...

Sadly, all I could find are individual parts... no complete single assembly.

Sometimes the motor turns in reverse and jams against the micro switches.
Make sure you have the nylon tube spacer... I would consider it is time for a new motor if
the assembly is running sluggish...or backwards.
Quoted from tomtest:I just picked up a DE SW and love it but the Death Star moving target back plate guide broke and I'm not sure it's repairable, does anyone have one or have a suggestion for making a new one or can do a 3d version, Marco is out of them and I've checked everywhere.
Here is the 3D print file.

I had a buddy print mine with some kind of super impact resistance media he had left over from his work. I can ask him what it was. Alternatively, I believe you can still get the version of that gate that is set up for three targets and then cut it down to just one like SW takes.

Actually, it looks like it's available again.

Just realized you were talking about the guide.

Try this print file.
Thank you Jackaltr for the file on the death star target, now does anyone know where I can get one printed, I don't know squat about 3d printing and don't anyone that has one.

That's the backplate not the guide, Marco is out of the guides.

Looking for some help trying to figure out why I have this looping sound on my machine. I thought I had it figured out with an incorrect jumper, but it appears other sound board photos on this thread have j4 installed too.
Here's a video that shows what it is doing.

I hope someone can help with my problem. I decided to do the NVRAM thing, got it installed, turned on the machine, GI lights came on and a loud humming. Fuse F5 then blew, then I turned off the machine. Took the NVRAM out, put the original chip back in, same humming. I noticed when I was checking the fuses, the fuse holders on F4, F5 and F6 were not holding the fuses tightly, they were just flopping around. I've had this machine since the late 90s and never replaced a fuse, how could have that happened to the fuse holder, could this all be related?
DE fuses are notorious for falling apart. You gotta replace the holders. Don‘t do the broken ones only, replace them all (or pay someone to do it if you aren‘t proficient). A lot of bad things can happen when the fuses don‘t work or fall apart and cause shorts…

The power supply caps go bad that control the +5volt regulator.

This photo shows a Jumper at W5. While post #2163 shows it at W4.
Still researching, sharing this in case this information is ever useful for another person in my scenario. This is what I have compiled concerning the jumpers on the sound board 520-5050-00. Rev c.
W1 is always jumpered.
W4 is only jumpered when U4 is 6264
W5 is only jumpered when U4 is 6116
W6 is only jumpered when U17 is 27c010 or 27c020
W7 is only jumpered when U17 is 27c040
I confirmed with Matt at Matt's Basement that my U17 is a 27c040 and I have moved my jumper to W7.
My problem changed soundbits when I moved the jumper but it still remains. I will open a seperate help thread to continue diagnosing it.
Hey Everyone!! I am new to the group, restoring a DE Star Wars. May I trouble you for information on where I can find a Death Star Ball Deflector Bracket from??
Mine is completely broken off.
Thank you very much.
(this isn't my machine or photo, however using it to show the part needed)

Hard part to find.
Marco's has the part number to the wrong bracket.
The bracket that they show looks like the one that goes to Batman.
Maybe Mantis Amusement could help. I put in an inquire.

Thank you....I couldn't find anything showing the inside of the Death Star in the manual. We have a Star Wars Data East at the Vortex Arcade I support, and it appears this is a commonly broken item.
I can't find a reference number or description anywhere

Data East manuals are not very detailed.
The company has a lot of undocumented miscellaneous parts on their games.
Star Wars Death Star Ball Deflector part #535-5380-00 pg33 item No.17
Marco has the part listed. But, it is for Batman not Star Wars...
I hope Mantis can make the part. It seems like this part is finally starting to fail on all
Star Wars games. At least this part held up for almost thirty years.

Attention Data East Star Wars owners!!!

About the Death Star Ball Deflector
part #535-5380-00
I'd be happy to make it but would need a sample to copy.

One needs to send Kerry a good sample of the part...
Data East Star Wars pinsiders it is up to you, to make this part a reality.
Good Morning everyone. Tiny little mod to mysteriously light the Death Star (which always seems like it's in the dark).
Tied to upper playfield general illumination, so relays can make it turn off during when needed.
Quoted from vec-tor:The power supply caps go bad that control the +5volt regulator.
On the Power supply board I replaced the faulty fuse holder clips and replaced the Caps. I'm getting on the 5volt test, 4.98 volts, on the +12 test, 12.04 and on the -12, 14 volts. Is that 14 volts normal? The CPU is not booting, +5volt led and pia led are on, board is getting 4.89 volts. I'm thinking of ordering the test rom from Marcos.
We decided to put the giant DMD in the SW I've been workgng on. It looks pretty good. Drastic improvement from the orange dmd.
Wanted to ask the group a question. When playing a game, sometimes the right flipper doesnt flip, other times it flips just fine. Is this a common issue possibly related to the flipper board?

Regarding the right flipper, have you adjusted the distance of the contacts on the button, or even just cleaned them?
Quoted from STLOkie:Regarding the right flipper, have you adjusted the distance of the contacts on the button, or even just cleaned them?
Totally slipped my mind. In fact I recently put a new button in as well. I'll clean the contacts and adjust properly, then report back.

Nice powder coating! I've done the Pinsound, and Color DMD is next on my list for my DESW. Well done!
Hey everyone! Just joined the club today. Bought DE Star Wars off local FB. Got a pretty good deal. Game is in good shape overall. Had a slight hiccup during transport and I think that might have caused the issue in the images here. I just cannot see where that screw is supposed to go. Mine is just floating there above what appears to be a slightly chipped plastic (bummer).
Would someone be willing to post a pic of that area so I can see what it's supposed to look like? I looked all around and felt like an idiot because I'm just not seeing where it's supposed to go.
Thanks for any help!
Can't quite zoom in enough on that pic to see it.
I'll take a closer look at mine and see if I can figure it out.
I believe it's just there to prevent the ball from getting stuck underneath. By raising the plastic it makes the ball roll backwards back into play if it lands above.
That´s pretty awesome, would like to see some pics of the modified speaker panel
