Looks awesome! Definitely interested in a kit of some sort!
Quoted from Seth1977:legs are finished, shoulder hubs printing now. not sure if I will use the hubs but they will be available. tonight I will print the dome inserts, I have transparent blue resin so lights will show through. if I can master this I would offer the files to the forum, or if you don't have a resin printer I would be happy to print and ship in a kit form, or just finish myself

Put me on the list
Tip for DESW owners.
Was having a problem with the ball chattering when launched in the area of the top right roll over. Sometimes so bad it would not make it to R2D2 and roll back down the right lane.
I was able to reduce this by replacing the spring in the lane shooter with a stronger return spring from a slingshot. Much better and the upper gate not getting battered so much. Cuts the ball speed in half if I had to guess.

Very nice. Very nice! I just did mine and so much better. Thanks for that!
Well. Another shot at this. I printed top pie panels with translucent blue. I drilled small hole in middle and chased with larger from inside. No need for washer inside because this bored out hole to smaller hole serves this purpose. Put in game and works! Lights shine through. Now printing bottom inserts and eye, stay tuned. After I get all the kinks out and align holes I will add to the printed files, so I don’t have to drill

how cool would it be to actually have a two piece Death Star. outside be the gray and an inside clear with all the windows displayed. I don't see any point in the lights it has in it now. serves zero purpose. lets correct that!

It is possible to illuminate the stock death star - a friend did it to his. If you carefully sand the high parts on the inside the death star with fine wet/dry paper (1200 or so) this will remove the paint/coating allowing light to shine through. Looks great.

Ok. I’m doing that! And placing a green lens behind the planet destroyer. Thinking of getting green fiber optics and making the actual “laser”
Quoted from Enki:Does anyone know what the original lamp color was for the force scoop? I can’t remember.
Mines red.
I’ve seen red and blue covers on it. Mine has a yellow LED light on it but I found all the original covers in a box and it has one blue but when the machine came out I don’t remember it being blue.

Yellow is for the three drop targets
red is for force lit
blue is for under the playfield lamp for the death star
here is an update. decided to reprint dome in blue, I will mask off to paint and keep blue pieces untouched. body was fitted into original location using the brackets, just needed to move around and make a slight modification to the right side. its getting there but its a ton of trial and error. the dome you will see the holo projectors are missing but a hole has been fitted. holos are printed separate and will accommodate a 3mm white led light, the holes are for the wires

I taped off all the blue I want to illuminate with stock internal lighting. I used painters tape and scored with nail, cut with hobby knife. Just taking my time. I also printed a new body so more to fit test

Awesome, I just purchased about 20 of these from Facebook marketplace. how did you install?
Could someone familier with using pin2dmd to colorize your star wars dmd give me some help through PM?
I have the pin2dmd working and displaying colors but it is only 4 colors and not the full pallet. I am not sure what i am doing wrong.
Quoted from Seth1977:Awesome, I just purchased about 20 of these from Facebook marketplace. how did you install?
Stiff wire from hobby rack from local mom and pop hardware store. I dont think they call it piano wire but similar, about 1/16" or less.
I drilled a 1/16" hole in ship and then bent the wire in a slight wave pattern so it's a tight friction fit. Made loop at end with needle nose pliers and attached at desired screw location.
I have two regular tie fighters I'm working with as well and still mulling over the best place for the Falcon.
Few touch ups and ready for install. Notice the white LEDs in the holo projectors. I also have leds coming that alternate between red and blue for his front psi. Going to wire into general illumination as the stock lights will be fitted inside somehow. I have been printing extra “kits” for the ultimate hobbiest if you dare to tackle. Pm me and we can talk. Will include dome in translucent blue resin, body and legs in grey resin and 6 holo projectors, 3 with holes and three without for your preference. Also will include the blue and red led and one white led.
Disclaimer, selling only the cost of resin lights and time. Will need to be fitted, painted and wired ect.

PM sent.
More work after work today. As the pictures show the lights are installed and it works! Lots of fun building a model from scratch without directions. So with that said, these take time to print and it’s messy because it’s UV cured liquid. I have a spread sheet and keeping track with interested pinheads. All I ask is that you understand this is a raw kit I am putting together, and it’s up to your imagination and my pictures to help guide you. I will be making 7 kits to ship out. I would also love to share my files I created for you to print.
Now I need your help. I need two stronger springs for each side due to the droid being heavier now. Lol. Any ideas please feel free to post. I will look on Amazon.
As for the lights. The stock lights I screwed inside body. Pretty easy, just don’t drill all the way through and try not to crack. The white holo projectors and the red/blue light I will run them directly to general illumination. I have already soldered resistors so they can be hooked up to 6-12v

Hot damn, Seth. That looks dope!
well, he is installed and works perfect. I had to trim the bottom just like the original. the springs, what I did was just stretch them, works great. all I need to do is wire up the led, s in the dome to GE. im waiting for the red/blue lights coming in the mail. I have been printing nonstop making kits.

I just got a new Death Star motor and it doesn’t work. I think I crimped it pretty bad, maybe bought wrong crimper. What crimper size should I order and also how do I go about testing it works? Like what tools do I need?
I got to order more molex connectors cause I busted them all up that I just got and probably need the resistor thing that was in the plug as it’s gotten pretty short and won’t fit another try...
Any help would be appreciated
Does anyone have a spare set of the Death Star speaker grills or know who makes an alternative?
Thanks
What Switch on the switch matrix chart is used for the Extra ball , Yoda Lane ? , When they are lit on my game they are not getting rewarded when shot into the lane .
Also is R2D2 s ( The metal pole that goes into the playfiled ) to have a post rubber on the bottom ? What type ? Seems my game is not trigering this switch most times
Thanx in Advance

1) check switch in rear subway.
2) some say yes it needs one, mine does not have one.
3) right orbit triggered by top right roll over and then roll over under R2D2. Make sure both are working.

No rubber rings OEM factory.
R2D2 switch #38
Note:
I would check for broken wire GRN-BLK... Strobe 5 [CN8-5]
I have an extra center ramp if anyone is interested. The first bottom weld on each side is broken. I don't have the means to fix it, I purchased a new one from Mantis Pinball. If anyone is interested make me an offer. Buyer is responsible for shipping costs. I live in the 12148 zip code.
IMG_6371 (resized).jpgIMG_6372 (resized).jpgIMG_6373 (resized).jpgI put a Stern LED DMD in my game last week (with the low voltage converter cable) and the top line of the display is displaying at the bottom. Is this a known issue? My repair tech friend said it was.
Everything else looks fine but everything is shifted up one line and the top line goes down to the bottom.

I have used the Stern led DMD in older williams games and have not seen the data get shifted up. They always look great. I am guessing it looks fine with a standard high voltage dmd?

I have as well and didn't have any issues. And yes everything looked fine on the original high voltage DMD until I made the swap. Could it be a ribbon cable or something? I highly doubt it's just a Data East swap issue since the DMDs do essentially the same thing on all games.
