I hate sound issues, I rarely if ever have any so I am going to ask for some help. The pinball is the Data East Rocky And Bullwinkle the problem is the volume is at ear splitting levels even with the volume potentiometer turned all the way down.

I have verified the pot is still good and also replaced it with a new 10k just to make sure I was reading it correctly and I get the same results. I have also changed the adjustment setting 43 – Background Volume and set that to 25% and that works leaving the speech still at ear splitting levels.

So at this point I am just looking for some advice on where to start as I don’t want to just start shot gunning this thing

*edit* well today I found out that 10 turn pots aren't wired the same way.

Same issue with a RAB, pot test ok but volume is insane with the pot turned all the way down. Any suggestions?

TDA 8199 U35 8 pin IC amp and volume control would be my first suspect.
