I picked up a Data East Lethal Weapon 3 and Jurassic Park. Both had the connector to the power supply set up like the picture. The power supply board takes a flat connector but the plug is a molex square. Is there supposed to be some kind of adapter wire to go between? Its odd I got 2 data east games and both are set up like the picture.

Am I missing something?

Thanks

That connector attaches to CN1, a bit further down the PS board from there.

Edit: Oops, nope. CN1 is a 12-pin connector.

My JP has the same 9 Pin edge connector, not Molex, & no adapter.

That's funky. So those weren't connected when you got the machines?

Original, as markp99 noted, should be the .156 9-pin header like you have on the board at CN8, with a matching plug on the cable-side instead of the block plug that you have - no 'adapter' in between. It looks like the header on the board has been replaced, but that doesn't explain the weird connector you have cable-side (assuming that those are indeed the eight wires that should be connected to CN8 - and it looks like they are.)

From the top-down on the CN8 header, your wires on the cable-end should be:

Brown
Yellow
Green
Violet
KEY
White-Brown
White-Yellow
White-Green
White-Violet

If those 8 are all there in that connector in your hand (it looks like they - I see green, yellow, and white-yellow, at least) then it should just be a matter of replacing that connector with a straight 9-pin .156.

Got it, I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I will just make an adapter cable to go from square connector to the flat connector needed for the power board. The one cable is too short to just replace the square connector with a flat one. Not sure why the person/operator I got these from change the connector like this.
