The open spaces are games I'd consider if a nice example showed up around here.

What do you consider "around here"? Do you mean Pinside in general or close to where you live? You don't have your location listed so I don't know where home is for you.

I may have my Lethal Weapon 3 for sale soon, it is one of the best examples of that game anywhere.

Anyone know where I can find cabinet side armor for my data east hook. I'm not having much luck finding any

Good call with wwf and poto

I played Laser War for the first time a few months ago. It was great .... really enjoyed it

Do the VUK switches generally always have a diode on them? And if they do what value are they? I'm wondering if mine not having one, playboy 35th, is the culprit in why I'm having switch matrix issues.....

Here is my list of data east games. Blue crosses are games I have, red are games that I don't want. The open spaces are games I'd consider if a nice example showed up around here. What does everyone think, do i have the good portion of games already or should I give some of the red x games another chance?

I agree with most of your red X's. I really enjoy my LW3, great flow, decent rules and I like the building up of the uzi with the orbits and the modes that come with them (kind of like HS2). One game you should revisit is BTTF. Okay its not a Bally/Williams classic but it is fun none the less. . . a dialed in one will play fast and have a system 11 feel to it with the drop targets and locks. If playing with others, the skill shot is fun and the awards from the Century clock tower are unique for the time period as well. Also the music and light show are second to none with no recycled sounds that DE's are known for. I like Hook as well but can be a little one dimensional. The right scoop for modes is very difficult to hit. GL on your quest. I would like to track down a WWF and TFTC eventually.

Thank you. I will put one in mine and hopefully that will do the trick.

Does anyone else have an issue where the last digit on the top and bottom of the display all the way to the right blink or flash every couple of seconds on alpha numeric Dara east pins? I’ve changed our displays, all my connectors and cables, and reheated the mpu and reseated chips and it’s still giving me a headache. I’ve tried to record it but I can’t capture it on my phone because it’s like trying to record an old television and all you see is strobing

Good luck. I’ve been trying to find one for years to replace my water damaged one (my machine was on fire at some point)

#920 5 years ago

can you use the water damaged one as a pattern.......bay area amusements sell the grey fish paper in 12" x 12"

#921 5 years ago

How would these decals work? It's a sticker, right. Not a metal replacement? That looks like it's be a pain to make sure every hole is aligned, and it if it doesn't look OEM, it'd drive me nuts.

Question for the DE owners out there.

I installed a light under the apron of my TFTC to illuminate the playfield below the flippers. (It has alligator clips)

Question is...can I run this light off the GI in the coin door? Would I need to disconnect the coin slot lights?

thanks

What kind of light is it? LED? If your GI are all LED's then this won't be a problem. If they are all the regular bulbs 44/47 then I'd be concerned about the added current draw. This is what the connector looked like on my Tommy before replacing with LED's.

All LED's throughout. Can I just clip both the gators to one coin door light?

Sure. Although, what kind of light are you trying to clip on? Do you have a pic? part#? There may be other options.

I would put them on the lights near the slings because eventually you will need to lift the playfield

I think I may just do that. The gator clips are short so I'll just extend them to make it to the slings. Thanks

question, i am installing a colordmd in my Rocky and Bullwinkle. All is going well. In front of my old dmd there is a pane of glass. When i install the new dmd, the glass is loose. i don't know if the glass is factory. IF so should it be loose. Also there were 2 "L" brackets attacked to the speakers going down towards the glass, but they aren't the same length, or size. I don't think they are factory. If anyone can shed some light on this, please advise.

#934 5 years ago

Could someone please give me some up close pictures of your left and right slings in Data East Playboy 35th? I need to look at the wiring going to both of them and could use some really good pics of them up close. Thank you

Both of my Data East machines just have a clear plastic piece in front of the DMD. I pulled the one out of my LW3 completely and put a Comet glare guard in front of my PIN2DMD. I'll probably do the same on my Star Wars when my colorDMD issue get sorted. Both of the clear plastic pieces were pretty scratched, etc in a lot of places.

Not sure mine has it, if it does, i'll try to take it off and get the pattern.

I ended up extending the wire and soldered the clips directly to the other ends. Hooked them up to the sling GI & it works like a charm. Ran the wires through some clasps and zip ties and they are nicely secure and in place under the playfield. Much better than running it through the coin door....what a hassle that would have become.

Thanks for the tip @jboner1058!

I have a question for the alpha numeric people. the 16th place digits (the last on the right both top and bottom) flicker every 5 seconds exactly. Does this happen to any of you? I have been trying to fix this by replacing every component in the chain on the board and display and it still happens.

2 weeks later
#940 5 years ago

Helping a friend fix up a MNF. Flipper coil is burned up. Ordered a new coil and sleeve, the big yellow whatever it is to the side looks suspect as well. (Capacitor?) Looks like what was also on the side of the sys 11 flippers. Is it the 2.2uf cap?

Also, the ramp and goal post rise all herky jerky and slow. Like it goes a little and stops. And goes a little and stops. Any ideas what I should look for? Thanks for any and all replies.

So data east legs are 28.5", I know the early ones are chrome. The later DMD games were ribbed, but which version of the ribbed legs are correct for DE?

I've seen the single rib that goes down the spine of the leg, the legs with ribs down the spine and all the way down on each side.

Which one is correct?

#942 5 years ago

Does anyone else have their led flashers flicker a little when pops and slingshots fire?

#943 5 years ago

Looking for help with R&B...
Hoping for an easy answer before I start troubleshooting backwards from the coils. Looking for a cause of my center pop bumper, both slings, both diverters and Nell relay to stop working all together. I checked all the fuses in the back box and no luck. I know it’s not the flasher/coil relay because these are all directly controlled coils. Thanks in advance, just hoping to save a little time and frustration.

Oh yeah, drop target coil also not working. I tested all of these from diagnostics and they don’t work there either.

Check for power at the coils (red wire, should be around 32VDC).
Check for bad solder joints at the power supply.
Check for a bad connector at the power supply.
