I have removed mylar from Diamond Plate and System 11 games with no issues. I have heard horror stories about Gottlieb 90's era machines and my friend is going through that right now. I have never removed from a Data East and was wondering how the DE playfield holds up to mylar removal and if the Hot/Cold method works best for these machines or if it is not a good idea. The machine is a back to the future and I would really like to take the mylar off and clear coat it but if i ruin the playfield, there are not many options out there.

Thanks

I removed the Mylar off of a DE Playboy 35th with heat, no issues at all.

Your mileage may vary.

Any other experience out there?

I used the cold on my DE PLayboy 35th with just some very slight peeling up of the insert layer on some corners.

WIth the heat method, some times I have found that the insert covering gets pulled up too.
