Robocop
Data East, 1989The original MPU in my Robocop was having some big time controlled light issues, so I decided to swap MPUs for now. It was an MPU from a TMNT machine which I believe should be fully backwards compatible. But this MPU is having an issue with the display, where it's adding a right parentheses on all segments of the lower display. Is there a quick and dirty troubleshoot for this type of issue? What do I need to look at first?

I don’t think there’s a separate swappable ROM for alphanumeric games? At least I can’t find one.

Yup. I’ve tried that, I’ve swapped different MPU boards, and swapped different displays. The issue is solely with this specific MPU board.
