Has anyone done any research into the blanking circuit for these Data East boards and seen if a reset generator can be replaced? I have 2 DE MPUs sitting here, one worse than the other - but both showing some signs of life; just not consistently getting the blanking to go high. (sometimes nothing, something it goes high and sticks, other times it goes high and bumping the board the littlest bit will cause it to lose blanking)

Considering how similar this board is with the Sys 11 design - has anyone determine how to do this akin to the System 11 reset generator install over on Pinwiki? That was an absolute lifesaver a few times on some very gnarly battery damaged boards and I'd love to give it a go on these as well.

The Data East MPU already uses the same/similar reset generator prescribed for System 11 MPUs in the PinWiki.
Blanking is going low because the software is not cycling and driving the displays.
I'd probably use Leon's ROM to ensure that the 6821s are doing what they are supposed to.

The trace from the 6821 back to the 555 that "resets" the 555 before it's timer expires, is very fine. It goes through a via about 3 inches to the right of the 555.

Thanks - I'll take a look at the, line from 6821 to 555... It's weird because if I flip my power supply on it'll boot (well one will, the other is tempermental as noted but usually is fine with a slight flex of the board... again - I'll check that line) but it'll stay booted just fine... But if you tap the board, it loses the blanking. you'd think it's a loose component, especially on the more battery damaged one - but I literally reflowed EVERYTHING and replaced all sockets.

I might run a jumper from the blanking source back to the 555, just to make sure.
