Hi,
I think this part is pretty much unobtanium now and unfortunately mine is really badly beaten up.
If anyone has one they'd be willing to part with then please let me know.
Thanks
Pete

If anyone is after one of these then please note that Marcos now have them back in stock. I never thought i'd see the day.....

Already got my order in with them.
Well it's still showing as In Stock so i'm hoping that maybe they have a few and others also in need can take advantage?
Unfortunately not
I sent my broken one to someone on this forum and he was going to have a crack at getting some repros made. No news on it yet though.
I might have a spare coming in with a load of bits in a week or two. If it turns up i'll stick it on eBay and then post a link here.
Last one to come up was several months ago in Germany. Thankfully I don't need one, but I can empathize with those that do.
Not quite Firebrand. That one was at the Pinball Center but since then we had a few turn up at Marcos. I was lucky to grab one of those and I think they only stayed in stock for a few hours.
I have a replacement cab for my R&B turning up next week and there might be a button housing with that. If there is then i'll post here about it.
Purchased a R&B about three weeks ago and don't even have the housing ! some one Half assed the button to fit flush on the front of the cabinet !!!! so , I am in desperate need of the housing if some one gets a hold of one . Thanks

Were you notified or something that they got new ones in? They are usually tight-lipped about their stock status other than being out of stock.
Anyway, I recently got the full set of the hat trick and arm plastics from Marco, with each only costing 9 bucks (best deal by far of all sources). I'll be scan-archiving them before I install them. They are nice quality, so you can buy with confidence if you need them. Just know that you need to peel off the translucent cover on the front of the piece.
Would you be able to repro these with a 3D printer? How much abuse would this part take? I don't have an R+B, but have seen this issue before.
It seems to me you could print the housing, and add simple metal brackets for mounting. Or maybe it's not that easy?
I sent my broken housing to someone on here and he was going to try to get some repros made.
In the case of the one I got from Marcos I just got lucky. I was checking almost daily and then one day I checked and they were in stock. I posted here and contacted another guy I knew who wanted one - he grabbed his without problems but they sold out within a few hours.
@FirebrandX We they ones you got NOS? I know Jeff at Classic Arcade has been making repros of the Lion and Bullwinkles arm. The Lion is a perfect match but the brown used on the arm looks out to me. Still, an off-colour arm is better than a busted arm or no arm at all I guess.
I've been looking forever as well. A friend of mine has agreed to see if he can make something with his 3d printer, I'll let everyone know if it works out. I don't have one to take measurements from so we are just going to use pictures and the dimensions of the opening on my WWF. Fingers crossed!
I can take some rough measurements of my housing if that will help.
Worm, these do not appear to be NOS because of the translucent cover instead of the blue cover that DE NOS plastics normally have for R&B. However, they are of excellent quality because the artwork is transferred like the originals were (instead of being low-res silkscreen jobs like other repros). I've not taken my old ones out yet, but I will compare them closely to see any differences.
The Lion plastic I got from Jeff is absolutely perfect and an exact match. The arm looked to be out on the color, but of course it could be that the original had faded or changed color due to it being in sunlight. Be interesting to see if yours match up too.
Quoted from FirebrandX:I can take some rough measurements of my housing if that will help.
Actually that would be awesome, would help take a little of the guess work out of it.
Worm, I just compared the arm and the hat trick plastics to my originals, and they are fantastic replacements! The only difference in color is the saturation and slightly more reddish hue to the browns and reds, which both are due to my originals having sun-bleached inks. Additionally, the artwork on the replacements is actually clearer and sharper than the originals. I was quite pleased about that. So for 9 bucks a pop, those replacements are a must-get at Marco.
Now on to the rough measurements of the launch button housing. First. I didn't take measurements of the hole where the button installs because you can get better accuracy measuring the pegs on your own Boris button assembly. Second, all measurements are in inches, so you'll need to convert to mm if you're in metric-based countries.
Height: 4 inches
Width: Tapers from 3 inches wide at the back to 2 3/4 inches wide at the front tip below the button.
Tip position below the button: 2 3/4 down from the back top, turn 90 degrees, depth is 2 1/8 inches.
So all you'd need to do is load up rendering or CAD software and enter in these dimensions for a basic shell shape, then add in filleting on the edges, then cut the hole and peg notches out at the appropriate spot.
I had a friend of mine re-create the assembly with his 3D printer. He is a master at drawing things up. In the pictures the original one is on the left and the 3D printed on is on the right. The outside dimension are an exact fit. He did make the inner wall about 1mm thicker. The texture is different, but he could have added a texture if I want. It looks pretty darn good and fits perfectly. It would work as a replacement until a new one can be found for the purist.

Thanks Fire! that will help a lot since I don't have an original so I can only go by the opening in my machine. I believe the hole is 1".

That looks pretty close! Would your friend be willing to share the file so I could have it printed? I believe my friend's 3d printer uses Toolpath but he does most of his creating in Sketchup.
That does look pretty close. About the only nit-pick is the filleting isn't as large as on the original.
So I went to replace the hat trick plastics and found somebody had at some point lost the original hardware and resorted to using cut & twisted wire instead of e-clips to secure the hat trick plates. Doing some research, I found that Marco has the correct e-clips, but doesn't know it and doesn't have them referenced with the part number. If you need them, they are here:
http://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/20-8712-18
I went ahead and ordered a set along with most of the other spacers and hardware that goes in there. I figure if I'm replacing it, I might as well replace everything to make it all new condition.
Hardware from Marco arrived and I just finished replacing the guts of the hat trick system in the backbox. Turns out there were some inaccuracies with the paint job on the Rocky and Rhino plastics. I will start a new thread in a few minutes with my shop log and scan comparisons.
That is a nice repro of the button launch housing .... I have a RB that came without a housing at all . been searching everywhere for one . Your buddy should market that piece , I would buy one !
I heard Mayfair has these now...Todd Tuckey just did a restore of a R&B, and got them from him I think.

Too bad Mayfair's web site is absolutely lacking in any meaningful substance, like an online inventory list.
Mayfair does have them but they are unwilling to ship a $20 to the UK. Anyone willing to help me out??
I had the same issue , minimum order was $50 to ship to Canada which was fine because I needed a few other items for my RR so I ordered those items also.
Quoted from jjoravec:Marco has them back in stock now.

I went ahead and ordered one even though I currently don't need it. With how hard they are to come by, it's better to have it as a spare than to not have it and need it.
My Star Trek machine has a launch button in the wood insted of the housing.
Isn't there suppose to be some sort of bracket to mount the black housing on?
I haven't seen one jet.
It isn't on my machine.
I do want to put one back on, but I need to see what the bracket looks like.
Peter
Maybe someone can scan the bracket and post an image file so we can make our own.
That would be helpful and appreciated.
I'll scan mine when the new housing arrives in a couple days. It will give me an excuse to replace the old one.
I made my own brackets last night. I went to the local hardware store and bought some metal 3/4inch wide brackets and had to modify them a bit, took about 45 minutes but they work perfectly. Had to trim a bit off with the hacksaw, used the grinder to round the ends and drilled some new holes.
The original uses black bolts that are typically rusted all to shit on most machines. My order from Marco includes new black bolts.
I've got one!
Now to build the sucker in the machine.....
I haven't got the machine out of storage jet.
Quoted from Michaelxwhite:Any chances left what-so-ever of obtaining one of these housings for my RR?
