Hello Guys I have took this new pinball from a friend but it doesn't go into play. When i turn it on it only light all the GI and backbox light. Some casual dots on the DMD turns on but nothing else..
what could it be? I have checked all the fuses, changing the blown ones, but i have 2 questions:

1) some fuse holders are a bit loose but still "touch" and keep the fuse in the socket, could this be the source of the problem?

2) I am unable to understand what is the correct ampere value of 3 of the lower left ppb board fuses..they are not present in the manual and there aren't info on the board..look at the picture to see them. The positions and actual fuse values are:
F7=3A, F8=4A, F9=20A

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Replace all loose/broken fuse clips.
They are the number 1 problems.
Next check the boards for cracked solder joints.
Especialy the Power Supply square 12-pin connector.

Here is a copy of the fuse chart (taken from the second page of the manual).

Thanks for the photo!
Just what I needed to complete the Tech Chart.
There isn't a single manual with the 520-5021-05 layout.
I've checked up to Batman Forever.
All of the manuals show the older layout from the 520-5021-00 PPB.
The schematic however is right, but most of them are unreadable.

Look under the serialnumber sticker in the upper right corner.
What does the text on the board say?
Please show me an image.

Here is a copy of the corrected Layout.
The schematic was already correct.

Replace the small capacitors on the Power Supply board.
Those are for the 5V which you seem to be missing.

Or send the power supply out for repair if you are unable to repair it. You can even replace the power supply, Which I would suggest a Xpin.

Mm there are test points that I can check on these boards like on the Williams one?

#9 7 years ago

Yes there are.
Look in the red circle.
Voltages are marked along the test points.

Thank you, i've tested those point and they measure 0.. it seems that no power arrives to the board but how can the GI light turn on?!

I've looked at the connectors and they seems ok..no burned pins or connectors, no acid.. then I've looked down the playfield and found this "hand made" reparation on a wire, it was cutted and now the two heads are twisted together. It could be responsable of the problem? How to fix it properly?

This is not the problem.
Yes, it should be fixed, but that can be done later.

First check the voltage on the fuses F1 and F2.
This should be 9VAC.
If this voltage is present, replace capacitors C2 (100uF/25V) and C3 (47uF/63V).

Where do i have to put the mtimeter's pointers to check fuses inside the board? I've always checked fuses outside of it!

#13 7 years ago

Unplug the machine, pull out one side of the fuse or pull the fuse completely and put the meter directly on the fuse.

Isn't that the continuity test? I have already done it! The fuse are not blown! How I misure the 9V AC?

#15 7 years ago

Set your multimeter to V-ac.
Put the black pointer (wire) on the ground test point and the red pointer (wire) on either fuse.
Each fuse should have 9VAC.

Ok! Your last post asked how to check the fuse! So I answered! Good luck!

I guess that the machine needs to be running for this test! meanwhile I have took off the board to look it better. No burnt connectors or components. What do you say about The traces on the solder side? They seem to be all raised! It could be this?!

The board looks fine.
The image is out of focus to see more details.

Yes, the machine needs to be on to measure voltages.

I have this EXACT problem, did you ever get this fixed @pesmerga?

I replaced fuses F1 & F2 7A SB on the power supply board and the problem was resolved
