Anybody watching?
Loved the original movie when I was a kid.
Yes. The Kids are into it too. It is really well done puppeteering in my opinion. And in the style of the original movie, with some cool, but not overwhelming, CG. I think it’s neat that with all things modern, the hand-made, tactile, physical puppets still provide quality entertainment when done well (kinda like pinball, eh?). Way to go Frank Oz Productions. Thumb up!
Watching it and loving it!
Would be cool to have a Dark Crystal game.....
Movie included.
I want to have a mode called "Trial by Stone" or "Defeat the Garthim".
I'll admit I just watched the original Dark Crystal movie the other day for the first time. I enjoyed it and watched the first episode of the new show. The practical effects and puppetry are excellent.
Started watching the series since I loved the original movie.
Such amazing art direction, set design and attention to detail.
Stays so true to the movie’s aesthetic!
My wife binge watched the whole series in a day or two. I didn't catch them all, but enjoyed what I did see. I liked the puppetry and the use of CG was perfect. Just enough to jazz up the cinema without overdoing it.
this might be one of the first times I’ve liked a remake of a show better then the original movie. I think both were great but there is just so much more in the series. Ready to watch it again.
Don't beat me up guys, but I remember watching the original Dark Crystal and have a soft spot for it. So, the other night my wife and I and the 13 year old son sat down to start the new series on Netflix.
I recognize the wonderful craft put into this new series but to be absolutely honest it just didn't connect with me. My son hated it and my wife was indifferent.
Maybe I hate happiness? LOL.
I was disappointed that I didn't enjoy it the way most of my friends do.

How far into the series did you get?
It took about 4 episodes for it to really come together for me.

Same with me. Didn't think I liked the new series at first. But kept watching it. After the third or forth episode I was hooked.
Binged it and loved it. It was truly a labor of love from all involved. Fantastic series and service to Jim Henson’s memory.
Finished watching it today and really liked it.
Hopefully they will do a second season since it seams there is still a lot that transpires between the end of the series and the movie.
My thoughts without giving away any spoilers.
It does start out a little slow which is probably necessary for character build up and bring you up to speed on back story.
After about 3 or 4 episodes it comes together and by the end I felt I wanted more.
I really loved how true they stayed to the original movie with their artistic design by still using puppets and set miniatures.
At the same time the CGI that was used was done very tastefully and doesn't make the new series seem too modern and not fit the original.
Anyhow, I thought it was great explained a lot of the backstory leading up to the movie in a well thought out way.
