I got 3 games in on Dialed In at the Northwest Pinball & Arcade Show this weekend and loved it. I like the fun theme, really liked the innovation and way they pushed the envelope, it's got good shots and I had pretty decent games on it. Most importantly, I watched people play it - there was a line 5-10 people deep at the two games there all weekend - and they all had grins on their faces playing and watching it. It's that kind of game.

Quoted from jfh:

The problem with the "Dialed In" title is that everyone immediately associates as being "the pinball with the cell phone" and it becomes a reference to a toy on the playfield, not the game.

I don't think this is a big deal for most people, especially casual players and people under 40. I watched a ton of people play the game this weekend and no one was really talking about the cell phone more than needing to charge it up while they played it to get to the modes, just like any other playfield toy.

Quoted from jfh:

I'm thinking about games on location where first impression gets the quarters. DI isn't going to get those casual players. It will be dismissed as "the game with a cell phone".

I can see thinking that, but observing it at the Northwest show all weekend long a lot of younger people and couples would wander by and get totally sucked in by the artwork, hdtv, selfie mode, and it seemed like they liked the whimsical, modern feel of it. I started to think, damn, this is a game that is going to bridge the age gap and bring in a lot of new players on location. I'll be interested to see how it does for operators.
