Quoted from TheLaw:

Spelling bob on left lights the Bob award in the left orbit. I believe they are randomly picked as to which mode starts but it's in there

That's correct.

@Concretehardt, do you have your camera covered or disabled, by any chance? Selfie Mode would be kinda lame without it, so I'd be willing to bet it's disabled if the camera is.

Quoted from Lermods:

Question on the lights around the frame of the cell phone. It looks like the lower right on the bottom is not lit. Is it supposed to be lit with the others?

Mine is the same - the one next to the lower right corner, "Phone 17". It works fine in testing, but doesn't appear to ever light during play.

It's DI's version of FG's Stewie light, or CSI's Suspect Shakedown and Fingerprint Frenzy lights (although those were all at least used in attract mode).

I know the WOZ I/O board is very serviceable, but out of pure curiosity... have all JJP games so far basically used the same I/O board or has it been revised?

Here's the board from my DI/LE - the copyright date is 2012. Someone with a WOZ and TH can weigh in...

2017-07-27 15.31.36 (resized).jpg2017-07-27 15.31.36 (resized).jpg

(Note the capacitor broken off in transit; JJP overnighted me a replacement board. )

[EDIT: flipped the photo to match the board's orientation in the machine.]

Any idea which part of the menu the kickback timer is in?

Settings/Coil Settings/KICKBACK/Kickback Delay (0-60 ms, default 40ms).

Quoted from delt31:

thanks
btw - can you increase the strength of your flipper past 25? Mine says 32 but only goes to 25. Right feels little weaker than left. Thanks

Mine caps at 25 as well.

Quoted from _xizor:

Who else loves the daily high scores?
As gimmicky as people have said DI is, it really is getting the more plays by far in our house because the kids love it as much as the adults.

The "gimmick" I'm shocked nobody's talking about is the "BALLS IN RESERVE" option - to me, one of the great innovations of the decade.

#1327 6 years ago
Quoted from TheLaw:

What the hell is a balls in reserve?

Settings/System Settings/General/Ball Play Type

Essentially, it's multi-player-capable add-a-ball. Everyone starts with 3 (or whatever) - EXTRA BALL adds one, draining subtracts one, just like a regular AAB. But, for multi-player games, the "player up" rotates after _every_ drain, among those players with one or more balls left. Each player's score display also shows how many balls they have remaining.

The big advantage: if one player racks up two or three EBs in a turn, the other players don't have to wait and watch _all_ of them be played before they get another turn.

Give it a try - I think it's revolutionary.

Quoted from KingBW:

I just wish they also had a "skip a turn" feature so that you don't have to wait for a player that is off doing something temporarily (like bathroom or yacking with someone). Just leave the same number of reserve balls for them and go to the next player.

Awesome idea!

Quoted from brucipher:

It is a bummer that it is almost all luck since it is such a critical shot in the game.
I see there are two posts with rubbers on them by the SIM hole. Would a post sleeve be slimmer then the post rubber, and in turn make that shot any easier?

I found I was suddenly making the SIM shot a _lot_ more often; when I looked, the top rubber had broken and fallen off.

Quoted from Kevlar:

My standard edition DI has just landed in the UK so I should have it soon. Are there any areas of the playfield that need protecting with mylar/cliffy's etc? I've always thought the drones look very liable to be damaged, has anyone protected them with anything or is it not a worry? I'd have thought that 1 airball and those little propellers will be toast.

The very _first_ airball on my DILE took out the top propeller nearest the phone scoop. The other 11 are still intact.

Quoted from Alamo_Pin:

If there is a heavier game to move, I'm not sure what it is.

OK, so it wasn't just me getting older. I was thinking, "damn, I used to uncrate games by myself, but _this_ thing..."

Quoted from bigd1979:

Just got to chaos in quantum city again and wow ..... the lightshow makes it very hard to see anything (which i love) its almost like a strobe effect with every color. Seems to be a 4 or 5 ball mb with every shot being a jackpot? Still not real sure whats going on lol bc its so crazy. Any other testers get to this mode?

The 3 ramps are jackpots, with the side ramp being a double. It's actually advantageous to drain a lot early, as the autofire scores the right ramp , and sets the right flipper nicely for the left ramp shot.

Quoted from mrgregb123:

Manufacturing defect on earlier machines that causes a SIM card shot to roll over to the BOB opto, making the game think you scored a BOB shot. Under the game you will see where the SIM drop meets up with the BOB subway. Fit a shim (anything will do but TAF vault shims work great) in so that the SIM drop is clearly lower than the subway where they meet. On incorrect games, they are at the same level.

I farted around with that issue on mine for a _month_, and never could get it right. I finally hit on the idea of moving the BOB opto arch around the curve from it's current location, away from the SIM Card hole, as close to the trap door as I could get it. Only two screws, and even though the subway is drilled where the opto was originally located, it works just fine in its new location shining through the subway. Problem solved.

Quoted from crwjumper:

And I disagree with cutting them off. If the magnet is flush with the playfield it should have no problems. I've adjusted mine to be and there is no need to cut the mylar after hundreds of games.

"Flush" isn't the problem. Mine started melting almost immediately.

Quoted from TheLaw:

Yes I understand why it comes out late. I guess it's just more a home market which is why they have the rules in there....have they actually changed any rules since it's introduction?

1.50 changed a _lot_ of rules, including adding an entirely new mode.

Quoted from gliebig:

I did that. How do you light lock again after that to lock more balls?

When you delay the multiball, the phone will light to start it again after you start a disaster mode, or at the start of the next ball if you drain before starting a disaster mode.

Fun times today: at the end of Chaos mode, the color palette on the phone screen was screwed up:
