After playing my pins for years, a neighbor of mine has been itching to get into the pinball hobby. You guessed it, Cyclone was the pinball machine he played nonstop while he should have been in class all through college. I kept an eye out for a few years and finally found a reasonable deal locally come up so I went and grabbed it for him (of all things it happened to be prom night and he was tied up with his senior and couldn't grab it himself). We got him a repro playfield and all new PF parts and now are just looking for a repro plastic set before we set off on a PF swap together. If anyone has a set they don't intend on using or knows where we can get one, we would be very grateful.

Thanks!

Quoted from lastlight:

Just joined the club with a fairly rough Cyclone. 16-hours in the truck but well worth it I think!
From my reading it seems most Cyclones have mylar of some sort. Mine has small pieces in front of the slings and then the large piece over those. Leads me to believe that the large piece at the very least was not factory (and might come off without too much damage).
Based on these pics what do Cyclone owners recommend for removal... heat gun or cold air? I'm assuming most would remove it given the wavy areas in front of the flippers which I tried to show with some light shining on them.

Generous amounts of canned air and goof off for the residue is my recipe.

Quoted from lastlight:

So where lies the greatest risk in damaging the paint and decals? Is it the quick separation from the freezing or the removal of the glue later?
I keep reading about how much riskier this process is with system 11. I'm still trying to decide whether or not to attempt it at all.

The freezing and lifting, the glue residue just kind of rolls off when you saturate it with enough goof off. It will either flake off or it won't, unfortunately you don't really know 100% until you start. And one section might be flawless where another will lift. Whatever you do, you have to freeze it enough that there is absolutly no "pull" left in the adhesive to grab onto the art underneath.
