Hi everyone, once the final code update for TWD comes out this year, I will begin retheming my TWD to The MoonWalking Dead featuring Michael Jackson's Thriller.

In addition to changing the music and the well walker bash toy to this toy: JMzrIapZrO.jpgJMzrIapZrO.jpg, I want to change the translite to feature walkers and MJ. Something like this: MJ backglass.jpgMJ backglass.jpg

Is there anyone here on pinside that can help me properly design and then create this new translite? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mitch

He probably looks pretty close to that just about now.

too soon Splash!

#5 8 years ago

Do you have to be under 13 to play the game??

#6 8 years ago

ouch!

#7 8 years ago

Why? Just... why?

#8 8 years ago

Why in the hell would you put mj on twd ???

#9 8 years ago

Because it's my machine and the idea makes me laugh, I love the music, and it would make it one of a kind.

Did I mention this would be on location?

#10 8 years ago

Of course you would put zombie MJ on TWD because that is awesome. Pinball should be fun. Keep us posted BigBang!

#11 8 years ago

This game would kick ass! Love the idea! I bet it would easily out earn TWD.

#12 8 years ago

Be careful, Jackson's lawyers are still feasting on the corpse!

You did a great job with the translite, but I'd be careful putting out MJ images in public to make money. That's a very clear IP infringement - although no one may ever notice.

Ha that's awesome! Aurich would be your best bet for the translite if he has the time.

They will notice. Someone like rarehero who is all up in peoples faces about copyright infringement will send them an email with a link to this page

#16 8 years ago

thanks for the responses guys. didn't even cross my mind about the IP infringe. Although I would love to go all the way to the supreme court defending a Michael Jackson pinball machine

put it on free play and then they can't say SHIIIIIIIII

#18 8 years ago

Do you have high res pictures of the twd trans and MJ?

I'm so sorry for you man! I've heard bad taste is contagious, so I'll keep myself far away from this thread!

I worked with the good dudes at Superelectric in Cleveland. We discussed the idea over email and they sent me this mock up:

Can't wait to install it!

Oopssss, forgot to drain this thread.... doing it now.

#23 8 years ago

LOL, I'm doing the mechanics/electronics part of this mod for this pin. I'm always been a fan of MJ (wore out my Thriller cassette in the 80s). I'm also adding in a few ideas of my own to make it a bit 'more' over-the-top. When it is all done, I expect this to be quite the spectacle that EVERYONE will want to play.

Oh, and if you don't like it.....Beat it...Beat it.. Beat it...Beat it.... :p

Looking forward to sharing pics and clips of the completed project with everyone!

Still working on the conversion.....Had to get into the spirit of it while building a custom board for the lighting.

OH MY LORD.....

This machine should be a, dare I say,,, THRILLER!!

#28 8 years ago

This thread is cracking me up!!

I was first like, why?? Now, I'm watching with much interest. This will be fun to see how it turns out. Enjoy the journey of making this. Good luck guys!

This looks like bad monster porn. MJ getting a BJ.

#30 8 years ago

The theme is irrelevant to me. My interest lies primarily in the tech. Most of the mods I have done so far are on my own machines, which are......visually enhanced. lol

I can't resist having a little fun with the theme though. Why not....It's pinball.

End of game sequence with under cab flashers installed.

#32 8 years ago

Well walker removed. MJ installed.

Initial test of under cab flashers. My custom board allows for easy reassignment of flashers so I will be able to match the undercab flasher color with those on the pf for the best effect. I will definitely need to reassign the flashers. This video is more of a demo of what the lighting will look like when it is played.

I could help you out and paint the MJ to look more zombie like and gross. Get me involved if you like. I enjoy doing custom pinball mods.

Moonwalking Dead is almost complete! Translite and bash toy installed!

Moonwalking_Dead.jpgMoonwalking_Dead.jpg

#36 8 years ago

The major hardware mods are complete. I added a custom topper. The lighting for the topper comes from the lighting that is used by the fish tank topper that Stern makes. The lighting (flashers) are not documented in the manual, but they are in the code (where I discovered them). The bash toy was not balanced, so I used a flipper spring to keep it from falling backwards and remaining that way. I also installed a mylar shooter lane protector. This will keep the nice shiny wood finish clean for the life of the pin. Custom translate is installed. Next I will post some videos of game play along with more details of my flasher breakout board, the under cab flashers implementation and the topper lighting.

That Wellwalker was reanimated just 7 months ago.

The perfect age for his first sleepover.

#39 8 years ago

good one vid

#40 8 years ago

My pleasure.

Wait until the TV series catches up with the comics and you see the walker bordello - there is even some zombie pedophilia for you sickos.

#41 8 years ago

Now I'm glad I don't watch the show.....but the pin is fun. lol <<Actually, I heard the show is REALLY good. I just never got around to watching it>>

#42 8 years ago

Have you changed the music? That would be cool.

#43 8 years ago

Great idea. I like your MJ version. I did prefer the translight in your first post, but it's still cool.

#44 8 years ago

This is pretty rad.

#45 8 years ago

Man this would be great with mjs thriller going on in the game! Like the topper when finished.

#46 8 years ago

I have changed almost all the music using the fantastic pin browser and have put in a lot of fun MJ quotes from songs and music videos. I will still leave some of the original voice work in there so new players can still know whats going on.

This game is coming out better than I could have ever hoped

#47 8 years ago

Thread favorited. How hard was it to mod the Well Walker? That's the only "miss" on this game, IMHO. If I can find a different/better zombie to mount there, I may be a Pro buyer soon.

EDIT: how about this guy, with the base cut off?:

This is just too awesome. Any chance changing the music to Thriller songs? Not sure you can do that with TWD.

The well walker was pretty easy to mod. He came off with a couple of screws. I was able to mount the MJ figure by drilling through his legs and securing it with screws. Because the metal base was going to be exposed with the MJ character, I decided to paint it black rather than leaving it bare metal. The only issue was that the MJ character was not balanced so when it was hit, it fell back and remained that way. A flipper spring attached to the base fixed that.

I love it! Not an MJ fan but can appreciate the fun and creativity that went into this.
