YEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!

Hahahahah. I was hoping you'd see the present I left you under the belated Pinside Xmas tree

People don't believe me when I say I'll do these themes no one ever designs any for... Anybody wants 'em, they're gonna get 'em

#453 3 years ago

Got a whole stack of cards to go print at cvs now, lol.

Chadsugg has clearly put a lot of effort into creating these custom pinball cards for everyone and taking requests for people. He seems to proud to ask for donations for his hard work. So, I will do it for him. Please everyone who is involved and using his apron cards, make a donation. Even a small one will really help and be appreciated. There are a lot of Pinsider donators (just look at the red hearts) and we all should step up and give a little for his hard work in the pinball community. Kudos to you Pinballboy, keep up the great work. What is the best way to donate ?

Thanks man. This is extremely kind of you, and the thought is genuinely appreciated.

People can donate, or I've set up a shop on my site as an even better option to support the site and get some cool stuff in return:
You can donate @ http://pinballboy.com/donate
You can shop @ http://pinballboy.com/shop

As of now, all earnings/donations go right back into the site and new items for the shop. Apart from the apron cards (which will always be free), my goal is to eventually have the shop full of gameroom/mod items that just aren't easy to find for our hobby. You can't just walk into Target and grab a cool pinball shirt or poster or pint glass and the like, so I'd like to fix that in my own small way.

Be sure to watch some of the great videos for inspiration on Tx-Secor

https://pinside.com/pinball/archive/tx-sector

The tunes in the game shuold be on the whole time you are designing in the background! I think the ultimate cheese factor will be inspirational for you

Actually I was looking at that theme the other day and it immediately made me think of a movie that came out last year called Turbo Kid.

The whole vibe is the same, even with the soundtrack. Tx-Sector is gonna be a fun one to do!

First new set for today is for a title some may call legendary... SWORDS OF FURY!

As you can see, I made sure this design had more fire and awesome and lion than any action movie could ever hope to muster. And I L won't I say O it, N but M just A know N that ! right now I'm shouting a certain 7-letter word in my head...

What's a fair donation?

#463 3 years ago
Quoted from janus:

What's a fair donation?

It's just whatever your own personal preference is.
The average donation so far is in the $5 - $20 range.

But honestly, any donation amount or purchase from the shop is always appreciated!

Curious, I have a color laser printer that would probably do a poor job reproducing these nice cards.

Would these print properly sized if brought to Walgreens or similar location? Any special prep needed?

Actually, if it's a printer made within the last four or so years, you'd be surprised how well it could print if you went out and bought some high quality photo paper.

However, I actually have a special feature on the site for people who do like to print their cards out at Walgreens or places like it. Just under the main DOWNLOAD bar on a cards set page, there are links for other downloads. If you click on the 4x6 link, it'll download separate cards sized out to print properly on a 4x6 photo layout (like Walgreens and everyone offers).

That being said, the 4x6 feature is new on my site and isn't listed on every single set cards I posted earlier this year. So if you end up wanting to go this route and don't see that feature on the ones you need, let me know and I'll get that sizing posted for you!

Hey all,

I have some good news! I finally got a new Intuos tablet (it's an awesome little device that allows you to draw/color digitally), so basically, this means I'll be able to do 100% custom and original card designs now as well!

See, for most titles, I can use my graphic design abilities to find some great piece of art and then edit it and add some digital touches to apply them to apron cards. However, there are many original themed pins where it's near impossible to do that. (Right now, I have three donation requests that have me totally stumped due to there being no material with enough potential for me to produce high quality rule cards - Fathom, Bad Cats, Whirlwind.) So now I'll be able to use the original artwork as inspiration, and actually make hand-drawn original art to go on the cards for these ones I'm getting stumped by.

I'll be sure to give a heads up when I have a fully original set done for one of these, so you all can see the difference. I'm pretty excited about it!

Any chance you can put the cards printed up for purchase in your store printed out? Or would that violate copyright? Could be a nice service to offer and I am sure people would order them. Either way keep up the great work. When I have some time I will look around more.

Yeah, that's something I want to stay away from. I might offer that whenever I start doing my hand-drawn designs for original themes, but I'm still figuring out how original I'll even be able to be with those.

However, I do offer pretty much exactly what you're asking, it's just not really advertised and I don't actually charge for the cards (all I ask is that you donate enough to cover shipping and print costs). If you go to http://pinballboy.com/requests and scroll down the page some you'll see a section called Print Requests.

#471 3 years ago

I don't own any of these games, but I love checking out the creativity in these designs. It's hard to pick a favorite, but memorable ones include Family Guy and Space Shuttle, which are unique among many cookie-cutter cards on the internet.

#472 3 years ago

The Space Shuttle one is outstanding Chad. Nice stuff.

Having problems printing, they are always to small. I've tried every setting. It's a new printer. Printing on 8 1/2 x 11. Any suggestions?

I was gonna ask which cards you're printing, because I do have about 3 Gottliebs on the site that need correcting... But after looking at your pins you own, I'm guessing they're all for your Stern or Data East?

If so, those are all sized right, so like you said we'll just need to figure out which setting on that printer is throwing it off.

Have you visited the Printing Help page on my site? http://pinballboy.com/printing-help

If not, check there, and if you're still having problems, just shoot me a PM and we'll get it figured out together!

Hi Chad, I noticed the line spacing on rules 5 and 6 are too close making the letters overlap some. Could you take a look? Thanks!
