Hi all, wanted to share this one.

Tomorrow I'm picking up the target game for this play field, that I've been working on.

I almost restored my first MB in 2013, did up a trashed playfield to its former glory , but got offered a good deal and sold that, as I did not have the time to restore anyway. I was given back an old original field, immediately fixed up the scoop hole, some other big issues , cleared it and left it hanging till this summer.

Here is Oktober , worked on it in sept till now, and I applied the final clear yesterday. Its looking hot, if I may say so myself, can't wait to start the project, and will also customize as much as possible to keep the dirty brown lab look on the cab too.

there are too many things to name that I changed to my liking , but the pictures will say enough.

I will follow up as I go along .

Geert

I like the wood planking. Very cool..

#3 7 years ago

I really like the changes so far.The planked wood and drac like spiral are really nicely thought out.

#4 7 years ago

Looks cool! Nice job!

#5 7 years ago

This is amazing. Be prepared for peopling begging you to sell this one!

#6 7 years ago

Pretty wild. It has a very cool look to it. Are you going to do anything to change the plastics to fit the theme?

#7 7 years ago

Very cool!

#8 7 years ago

I think I will make some custom inlane plastics to match the planks, as standard its the blueish stonework. But I extened that next to franks table to bring it back in view

#9 7 years ago

That is the neatest custom job Ive seen on Pinside! Great Idea

Cool. I figured or it would clash with the new artwork. How about lighting? Everyone normally goes Blue/Violet. Would you stick to white or see if yellow/orange goes with it?

#11 7 years ago

DAMN!!!!

#12 7 years ago

That's a big compliment (not being sarcastic)

#13 7 years ago

So freakin cool! I wish I was that talented. If I had a beat MB play field I would have you do the same thing. Absolutely awesome.

#14 7 years ago

Uff. Wish I understood better how to paint and retouch playfields like this. I was proud of Crescendo, but it's definitely amateur hour in my house!

#15 7 years ago

Wow that's definitely the most factory looking custom playfield I've ever seen. I'm really liking it over the original art. Can you explain the process for spraying the brown and getting the detail for the black lines? Did you laser cut an overlay or something?

#16 7 years ago

Bravo, amazing stuff.

OP - Please keep this thread updated.

It is going to go hot so quick the Moderators will be checking in soon to see what trouble is going on

#19 7 years ago

I have always hated the stupid CD in the middle of the plafield.

#20 7 years ago

Love it. Fantastic looking field. I could totally see doing something like this. If I had a MB, i'd do it to mine.

#21 7 years ago

Wish you could post a side by side to an original

#22 7 years ago

Beautiful work man!

#23 7 years ago

Holy moly. The depth it provides is beautiful.

Wow, a lot I didn't expect. The word Mummy, the center arrow dripping, coffin insert, stages of the moon inserts . . . .

#39 7 years ago

Totally surreal. How many hours spent on this playfield?

#40 7 years ago

Looks AMAZING!! You did a fantastic job here. If I was to give any criticism, it would be for the color choice of the moons and I think the Drac Attack insert needs some sort of outline to help define it more. But that's nitpicking. I really do love what you have done here and think it looks way better than the original!

#41 7 years ago

Nice work!

#43 7 years ago

Best MB PF ever!

#44 7 years ago

Better than the original. Great work!

#45 7 years ago

You should take some very hi-res photos while unpopulated so you can sell them to PP and they can produce this. But, dont give them away.

#46 7 years ago

Very cool! Nice work!

It does look fabulous! Too bad you did it to cover up the fact that the playfield was actually planking already.

(Just kidding. It looks fabulous.)

#48 7 years ago

Stunning, seriously amazing work.

The shooter lane, the enhanced Creature Feature art, the Ball & Chain shots - left side green replaced with stone, right side green replaced with yellow, coffin target inserts dripping blood...

Seeing them side by side is amazing!
