So I've got the Genesis with pretty good quality ramps, but they are broken and cracked at the entrance as they almost all are. I was looking at some papa shots of this game and it looks like someone has some ramp protectors installed on this game.

Here's a picture of the ramps on my game:

Can anyone give me any tips on making some of these on my own? Or perhaps some better photos of your own improvised ramp protectors. I'm fairly good at fabrication so I imagine I can come up with something well enough, but enough people have been here before me that I'm hoping I can learn a bit from others trials first.

I would say just start getting some scrap metal and cut pieces that are about the height of the ramp sides and try to wrap them around the each side of the ramp.... Once you have a pretty close fit then try cutting one that includes and extra metal flap that you can drill a hole into to help secure it to the ramp (either with existing screws or zip ties).

First, make and bend your template out of stiff paper (like card stock).

Then flatten it out and have it drawn into a CAD program (download a free one, or have a friend do it).

Have it cut at any local laser/waterjet cutting place (or send the CAD drawing to Cliffy).

Make a dozen or so, because every Genesis owner will want some.

This part is the most crucial :-p

Old side rails can be cut and bent to make your own

The problem with genesis is absolutely zero mounting points at the entrances, which is where they blow out. I end up having to do a wrap-around on these types of ramps. It's not the best choice because it still allows flexing which tends to crack the ramp at the bottom but it's the only practical option.

The right side of each ramp looks like it could join to the Starpost LH and the Gate RH.

The Left side of each ramp begs for a more creative solution - maybe an arch .
