What kind of paper and printer is best for these?

Im using a Canon imageclass.

https://www.amazon.com/Canon-imageCLASS-LBP622Cdw-Wireless-Printer/dp/B07QBR7JFV/ref=sr_1_5

I use it for mostly pinball artwork and stickers.

I use glossy paper, thin or thick.

Theres a cheaper Brother printer thats also pretty good but, its a bigger printer.

I wanted a smaller more compact wireless one.

What is a good way to resize these? They are coming out too large. Bally's are 3.75x5.5" they are coming out way bigger than the other ones for whatever reason

Maybe use GIMP (its free) and adjust the print size.

Quoted from Brewchap:

Mr_Tantrum, Can you explain how to print, using 5x7 cards instead of full sheet? I'm trying to print off some Deadpool apron cards, and I just can not set the size right. I know that we talked about this a year or two back, but I'm missing a step some where using Gimp.

google is your friend:

https://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-tutorial-quickie-scale-print.html#:~:text=To%20change%20the%20print%20size,examine%20the%20change%20in%20resolution.

#1403 2 years ago
Quoted from Brewchap:

I can set the size correctly in Gimp, (for Stern) 5.5 x 2.875. Set the printer up to use 5x7 paper, but something is losing it's setting because the printer keeps trying to default to 8x11 when trying to print.

Set the printer to "actual size" The size instruction is imbedded in the image when saved with the settings in gimp.

#1413 2 years ago
Quoted from bigfoot53:

In the more options section whats the document size and output paper setting ?
In Gimp under image does the canvas size, match the print size under image image properties ?

Im really liking my canon imageclass color laser printer.

Its perfectly suited for pinball graphics and toner doesnt fade as bad as inkjet.

The canon is not as fine as inkjet for photography, but still does a great job.

That said, photos i have printed on glossy paper look really good to me.

Regular inkjet ink will fade out in only a few months.

Also, toner is somewhat water and windex proof since its a wax.

Fingerprints dont eat away the images like on my inkjet.

I make tons of decals and stuff with it on sticker paper.

IMHO color laser is cheaper to print and more pinball friendly.

#1493 1 year ago
Quoted from dpkzone:

Which model Canon imageclass do you use?

Canon Color imageCLASS LBP622Cdw -Wireless, Mobile Ready, Duplex Laser Printer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QBR7JFV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apanp_4RgA4SBiSCg2Z

There might be cheaper or even better ones now.

I bought it in 2019 and its still going strong.

Quoted from punkin:

I much prefer to have free play and the logo.
I disagree with most of what the tantrum says on this issue, and not for any purist or that's how it's always been reasons. Hell i wish they got rid of coin doors on machines ordered for home use (optional).
I just think they look better and they are fulfilling their purpose if they have these things.
If i was an operator i believe there'd be complaints if it didn't clearly say how much a game was.

I think that "Free Play" on apron cards seems unnecessary on "home" games.

A larger font to make the instructions easier to read would be a nice touch, to take up space.

#1640 4 months ago
Quoted from Llyrion:

I'm new to designing apron cards so what you prefer be placed on the second card instead of Free Play? Right now I have that as I don't have time to re-edit every card for specific pricing (I hand draw all these cards and offer them for donation/free and 99% of my downloads are people not leaving tips/donations)
Would you suggest just a blank spot for the person to add their own pricing? Or just the art/credits and nothing else?
I've attached a few examples of the second card to this and would love your advice.
Thank you!
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

I think posting "water marked" images on this thread is kinda crass and against the whole point of this thread.

Since its all about being printable for the hobbyists, not a vehicle to generate revenue by directing stuff to your website.

Coindropper has posted hundreds of printable images and spent tons of time making this thread an important part of pinside.

#1642 4 months ago
Quoted from Llyrion:

If you read my original posts, all my cards are available to download for free on my Gumroad account.

I think "STILL" you dont get it.

Using this thread to DIRECT people to your site (without compensating pinside) for donations is APPALLING.

If you want to sell stuff, post adds in the marketplace or make a shop.

Please feel free to post un-watermarked images for all to use in a printable, pre-sized default size.

#1649 4 months ago
Quoted from Llyrion:

You can't make ads for products for zero dollars (or at least I couldn't figure out how to do it) without me spending a dollar for each one. I don't have a business making apron cards. I spend days of my own free time drawing art to expand the options for apron cards and contribute to the pinball community. I can't afford to pay money to give people stuff for free. I'm a disabled artist just trying to add something new to pinside.
And I don't think YOU get it. The cards are free. I like being able to see which cards are downloaded so I can track what is and isn't popular.
Almost everything else in this thread is people stealing art from Google image search and just adding instructions next to it. I thought I was helping by contributing my art, for FREE, to this thread. But now I feel completely unwanted and unwelcome here so I guess I'll stop.

PLEASE make a pinside store to sell your artwork!

Also, if you want to post un-watermarked images here, please do so!

#1650 4 months ago
Quoted from punkin:

Yes he did.
And then he set it free for others to populate, and that's what's going on here.

I think that eveyrone has a right to be compensated for their work.

But, using this thread to send people off-site for donations rubs me the wrong way.

Pinside shops are FREE to set up and this is where you sell stuff.

I would like to see this "in-house" so that proceeds can help pinside.

anybody adept at photoshop

A lot of the people here cant even figure out how to print them the correct size.

Knowing Photoshop is a big reach...

It might be more helpful to make one without the serial number on it for non photo editors.

A year ago I didn't either. I just started playing around with Microsoft Paint and Microsoft Word, and I began to find the more I messed around the more I learned. And the more I learned, the better I got. It's not all that different from anything else really.

Nicely done!

#1682 77 days ago
Quoted from sixtyfourbits:

I second this. I've made quite a few in microsoft word and was happy with how they turned out.
Another option for people who are interested is the Gimp program. I think its Gimp2.0 currently. It's pretty similar to photoshop, decently user friendly (quite easy to learn if you take the time), and best of all, its free to download and use.

I have to 2nd this again!

Not only is GIMP free, but is easier to learn and the youtube videos are there to VERY quickly get you up to speed on it.

There are FEW photoshop videos that are helpful as they are always taken down by Adobe.
