Lots of great cards to choose from. Good work everybody. For resizing I had to save as picture. Open in card making software.

Does anybody print these via Walgreens or Shutterfly etc? If so do you need to resize or reformat or just print and cut out?

#1456 1 year ago

Yes, I would say you probably gonna work on the sizing. May want to print as a draft on regular paper. There is some pretty cool photo paper now days. I like aluminum backing photo paper. It has a slight reflective shine to it.

I can't believe they're not already here...but here's some for Earthshaker

I can only take credit for the instruction card. The other card with the Earth image was taken from another forum post. I just thought they should both be listed here together.

Looks good. You misspelled Help, Boogeyman, and Victory. You also use Smith’s Grove and Smith Grove interchangeably.

I only have a black and white laser printer. Going to go buy a color one so I can take advantage of all these great cards! Anyone have a recommendations on what printer to buy? Do I need a color laser (expensive) or is inkjet fine? If I go inkjet, do I need a more expensive version? Will any printer print ok on glossy stock or do I need to get one that handles that? Thanks in advance!

For best graphics printing you want a photo quality inkjet printer - NOT A LASER. I've owned every brand of laser and inkjet printer out there, and my preference for quality and other factors for photo printing is Epson. Again, for best results you want one of there photo printers and not a general home/office printer. The photo printers have more than just the four standard ink colors and can handle a variety of media types.

6 cartridge models
Prints up to 8.5x11 | Epson Expression Photo XP-8700
Prints up to 11x17 | Epson Expression Photo XP-970

EcoTank Models with bulk ink
Prints up to 8.5x11 | Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8500
Prints up to 13x19 | Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 (this is the printer I currently have, and it is fantastic)

If you print any volume the cartridge models can get expensive. If you go with bulk ink, your up-front purchase price is higher, but your cost per page to print is significantly lower.

Fantastic help. Thanks so much for all the detail and recommendations!

#1488 1 year ago

Any modern inkjet printer will work. I do not print much stuff so I just buy the cheap Epson printers. Walmart usually has the previous years printers on clearance for a great price. Printers are a sham anyway-they make their money on the ink cartridges(almost as expensive as the printer). The key is to buy good photo quality glossy paper(I buy HP photo paper). Then make sure to change your settings under printer preferences. Change paper type to glossy photo and change quality to high. It slows down the speed of printing and helps with high resolution. Also can take to Walgreens to have printed(cheap) if you do not have a printer.

#1489 1 year ago

best is have them printed out as photo from one of your local store, just make sure it is not one of those "noisy" employee that care about copyrighted material...

#1490 1 year ago

For best results, don't go cheap on the paper. Typically just buy the photo paper from the same manufacturer as your printer. Also, don't skimp on non-OEM ink.

Can you get by with a cheap printer and cheap paper, sure. Will it deliver the best results - absolutely not. Each person has to make their own decisions based upon their budget and intended use.

Im really liking my canon imageclass color laser printer.

Its perfectly suited for pinball graphics and toner doesnt fade as bad as inkjet.

The canon is not as fine as inkjet for photography, but still does a great job.

That said, photos i have printed on glossy paper look really good to me.

Regular inkjet ink will fade out in only a few months.

Also, toner is somewhat water and windex proof since its a wax.

Fingerprints dont eat away the images like on my inkjet.

I make tons of decals and stuff with it on sticker paper.

IMHO color laser is cheaper to print and more pinball friendly.

Which model Canon imageclass do you use?

There might be cheaper or even better ones now.

I bought it in 2019 and its still going strong.

To be fair, that may not be the employee, many times it's overall shop policy - there have been many cases in the past where a print shop was sued by the IP holder alongside the customer for the copyright infringement. I was an employee at one, and I had a specific case where someone brought in a roleplaying game rule book to copy the blank character sheet, and since I knew what was up with that specific game, I had to actually intervene with the manager and point out the phrase in the book that said, "you have permission to photocopy the blank character sheet on this page" so that the customer wouldn't be forced elsewhere.

Any tips to get blacks to appear black? I have epson ecotank, using generic photo gloss paper. Printing quality set to high & paper is set to glossy photo paper. No matter what I try even in photoshop my blacks turn out kinda dark blue-ish or grey-ish.

Typically with Epson, you can change the profile in your driver. Try setting color correction to Custom and changing color mode from Epson Vivid to Adobe RGB and see what happens. In your software, also try replacing the black with processed black (RGB should all be 0 - or set CMYK appropriately).

If you're originating the black elements, then yes, make the CYMK percentages all 100% for the full process black for outlines and fills. If you're printing someone else's artwork, you're kind of at the mercy of how they constructed the artwork. You could drop it in a photoshop type program and play with the hues, saturations, and contrasts, but your best bet is probably just to look at all your printing quality options, and that includes the different kinds of substrates or papers that are available to use. Somewhere in those options should be a proper combination that yields decent results with a black that someone else did.

I just looked through every post and got to say I am amazed at the creativity and talents of so many people!! Wow and Thank You all!

I started to see some EM games with cards and they are super cool. Does any one have ones for Gottlieb's El Dorado and Sure Shot they want to share?

Thanks again! Dave

Thanks. Adobe RGB made a big difference actually. Somehow it is more vivid than epson's actual vivid color profile. Now I'm wondering if I should stick with that for everything I print.

If you are printing photographs (people, nature, etc.) the Epson vivid does a good job (Adobe RGB may appear to be flatter/duller). Otherwise, when printing solid/spot colors Adobe RGB looks better and is more accurate IMO.
