Have there been experiments in the past with pop cap bumper shape, both covers and/or solenoid base? Seems with the coming of 3d printing that would make for interesting exploration.

Ive been told that the material used in most 3D printing machines would not hold up well to the beatings a pinball will give it on a daily basis, but you can use them as masters to make molds and make plastic/resin castings.
That does make sense, but even still what about the use of different shapes instead of the round usual type? Square, triangualar, hex?

Some of the old EM's had triangular and other odd shaped pop bumpers on thier PF's.
