So the first game starts and plays fine. You start the Second game...It starts but ball doesn't kick into shooter lane and the coil for the left ramp post just goes up and down up and down.

if you elevate the playfield (i.e. lift it up) the game will start.

This is for a friend and I know nothing about Gotlieb.

I checked all the usual suspects. every coil works and every switch works.

only issue i found was Left ramp opto was a bit out of adjustment due to those stupid button screws. but even after I got that working regularly still had same issue.

Help me Please

Morning tech bump!

Suggestion. If the Ram coil is going up and down it means its looking for the ball so I would look at the switch inside the Kick out.

That was first thing I thought but it works I switch test. And Gotlieb doesn't use 5 switches just 2 out hole and Ball 3. I'll double checked that but will triple check it.

What is weird is if you invert playfield the game starts. So I though maybe that switch was off.

I'll try this but still want recommendations

Also I found these two wires just hanging out. With playfield up, they were at bottom left.

I won't be of much help but are all of your left target switches working/registering and both target coils resetting? I can't tell from the picture what color those wires are. I can try and look at my machine tomorrow to see if I can locate them.

#9 8 years ago

Its not my machine I am helping a friend. But I tested those and they all worked in test. Only thing I noticed was the Opto for left ramp was flaky due to its no lining up.

I can recheck those when I go back.

But I would really appreciate if you could look at yours and see what those wires go to. We don't have a manual and I don't see anything no hooked up. Thanks

What color are those wires?

Here's the manual.

White and Purple is the top wire and White and Black is the bottom one.

Thanks for the link!

I want to say that they go to the left bank of drop target leafs. They are known to break off over time from lifting and lowering the PF.

ill test them again. I thought that I test them.

Are the White wires for Solenoids or Switches or Lights typically?

Quoted from kporter946286:

White and Purple is the top wire and White and Black is the bottom one.
Thanks for the link!

I shot 10 photos of that area and I wish I could be more help to tell you exactly where those wire go BUT the pics might help you look on your machine and decipher it on your end. PM me with your email for other pics. Here are a few. Lower left corner of playfield when in upright position:
