I have a CBW that I picked up. It plays fine, but the audio makes huge thump when I turn the machine on. It has a minor buzz when it's on. When you turn it off it makes another big thump. I am hoping someone has seen this problem before.

Pretty normal from my experience. The buzz may be a ground loop, or just normal transformer hum. It was so quiet when I turned it on I had to make sure it wasn't a coil or something stuck on.

Yeah - normal thud along with a dual screech. In fact not having the dual screech indicates faulty sound.

The buzz could be normal or could be any number of other things. Difficult to say without hearing it.

I have not done the ground modification I keep hearing about, maybe that will help.
