We've had our Cue Ball Wizard machine for the longest time, over a decade ago at least. During that time, whenever we got to the point of 9-Ball mode, we could never get the 1/2 billion bonus from it because we could never complete it. We thought we were just bad at getting it, knocking down the numbers in the wrong order.

But after looking into it recently, reading about 9-Ball mode, and doing some testing with the glass off, we learned that the machine is not even registering our hits. We'd knock down the 1, but it wouldn't advance to 2. If we knocked down anything but 1, it wouldn't reset the targets. In short, it was impossible to get the 9-Ball bonus.

What can we do about this, if we can do anything at all? Is there some setting that has to be adjusted? Is it faulty programming in our machine? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like the switch for the "1 ball" target may not be registering. Have you tested it in diagnostics?

Per your advice, we just ran it through diagnostics, and even went into a game with the glass off to test the targets to double check with scoring.

Not only is the #1 target inoperable, so is the #2, #3, *and* #9 target.

How would we go about fixing something like this, if we can fix it at all?

You may have a wire off daisy chain, ( although I think they are the smart switches). Possible swirch matrix issue.

We opened up the machine and took a look at the wiring, is this what you mean about the daisy chain (Sorry about the poorer quality, my phone wasn't able to focus on it well)?

That's a wire between the 1 and 2 ball targets, and as seen it's not connected. But the one between the 3 and 4, and the 9 and 10 ball targets are still connected.

If it is a switch matrix issue, would that be something we could fix ourselves?

You may have found it.. You will need a soldering iron to reattach it.
