Since this thread has recently been bumping around....and it is my newest acrylic design, I figured I would post a picture of my CSI design with a Speaker Light Kit mounted behind it. Available at www.speakerlightkits.com

Quoted from Drebay:

Quick Image of the backglass when Green Evidence is selected. Also, Speaker lights follow the evidence.

If I may offer a suggestion....if you can, you should try mounting the original speaker grills BEHIND the speaker light frames. So.....the acrylic designs, light frames, speaker grills, then speakers.

This will give a cleaner look inside the lit area as the more uniform looking grill will be lit in the back instead of the speakers, which can visually clutter the look of the designs.

Quoted from Drebay:

I just tried your suggestion......
Unfortunately I have two issues with the grille being behind the light frame. First, the grill reflects the light too much and you can easily see where the LED are located. Before the darkness of the speaker absorbed that. The second issue is that with the grille so far behind the acrylic, the design of this particular acrylic is extremely fragile. With kids around and the chances of an accident while servicing and/or cleaning are too high. But I do like the fact that the speaker is removed from view.
So, I think the best solution is to put the grille back immediately behind the acrylic and get some white fabric like cheesecloth to cover the front of the speaker. That should be the best of both worlds and I won't have that glare reflection from the LEDs.

You might want to try some "plastic canvas" cut pretty much like the speaker grill is to put back there. There are usually a lot of different colors to pick from but I think the white might be best as using a dark color might darken things up too much back in there.

The plastic canvas can be found at just about any craft store for cheap.

Though.....the cloth you mention would probably give even a smoother and more uniform look than the plastic canvas.
