Up to you. My take...if you don't need the money, let it ride for a while.

Guess I'm not as much of a "maximalist" as I thought I was...just added some Solana.

Some decent new partnerships being announced for cardano today.

To help wade through the quagmire that is NFTs to find the 1% that will be worth anything, I've been focusing primarily on the utility NFTs. This is due to the realization that the value in NFTs is rarely in the art itself (unless it's a well reputed artist), but in the project roadmap and the team.

The likes of Cyberkongz, Sup Ducks, Cool Cats and DystoPunks v2 all have (or developed) a roadmap including free airdrops, community events (even IRL meetups), passive earning, all of which add ongoing value to the original NFTs. Most of those are now between 6-100ETH floor. So what's next?

Gambling Apes was mentioned here. They have an IRL meetup going on right now in Vegas with a virtual poker tournament this weekend which includes those who couldn't make it in person, free giveaways for UFC and NFL tickets, recent purchase of land for one of two virtual Casinos, plus a web-based gambling site, and all owners get a share of the profits. They even offer betting tips... it's a true gamblers community! The floor on these is still just .5 ETH... I think people are waiting on execution, but what I mentioned was just the past week, so time will tell.

Another is The Doge Pound. They are all in on the DogeCoin and Elon memes, the community involvement is pretty strong, free air drops (puppies already released), a launchpad for presale mints (OG only), and they are slowly releasing future roadmaps including more airdrops utility, and earnings on the Dogs. It will include a future crypto coin, and a proposal for staking your dog to share in the OpenSea trading profits. Based on their writeups the value of that alone could be worth 3x the cost of the dogs today, paid in ETH. They are working on a game, and 3d models of the dogs, virtual reality interaction like the Gambling Apes. Floor has gone from .5 to 1.7 ETH in 2 weeks. about 25% of the Dogs have not minted a pup and are thus referred to as "Pristine" and if they are staked they count as both a dog and a pup. I FOMOd into this project as I'm very intrigued.

There is an intriguing new one out called Monsterbuds. From their description "MonsterBuds™ is a cannabis-inspired NFT game. 10,420 uniquely generated NFTs to buy, sell, trade, breed, and smoke all on the monsterbuds.io platform. The Puff Puff Pass will have some major future utility and will not burn on mint." It's not completely clear what you do, but the floor on the monsters is already .64 ETH.

In a similar vein Magic Mushroom Clubhouse minting happened today for a pretty low 0.05 ETH but sold out in 17 mins. The art is cute, and it follows the real world theme and community, which in this case is about magic mushrooms... their roadmap isn't fully fleshed out, and while I don't expect this project to go as far as the others I've mentioned, the team behind it appears to be genuine and legit, so it'll just be interesting to see what they come up with. They're talking more free airdrops, game, etc. I jumped in just for fun.

Getting in early can pay off, as NFTs in some cases have given faster returns than literally any other investment on the planet, but it is very high risk, and again, rarely about the art. I can imagine what the NFT crash could look like... On the bright side, with massive currency devaulation, potential crypto regulation classifying it as a security, safe harbor is looking to be in crypto, and the simple fact that they would be hard pressed to slap a "security" label on a collectible online image, some speculate NFTs can become a safe haven as a collectible that can pay you income

I know the Cryptodads is doing a mom airdrop, followed by the ability to birth a kid from the mom and dad. Not sure the best way to word that though.

They are also working with a distillery to market CryptoDad whiskey and a brewery for beer. No clue on revenue back to the community though. They are also selling branded coffee currently.

I have no idea if it’s going to turn into anything but it sounds like they are going after branding pretty hard.

Cryptodads slipped my radar and 1.2 ETH is a solid floor. It's a cool theme with pretty great art which plays very well with merchandising and branding. Frankly NFT owners are essentially owners of the company so I would expect profit sharing like other projects, which could come, but honestly I doubt it.. they hit on a great brand and are taking advantage. Worst case all the merchandising will feed back on value for the NFTs.

But alas, I'm out of powder... wishing I bought a lot more ETH back in the day as this is a money-begets-money game. There are many individual NFTs changing hands in the 10-20 Bitcoin range! It's insane times we live in.

I’m not following the summit but this weekend hasn’t been a good one on ADA. Friday the network got so congested after an NFT launch that wallets couldn’t sync and then the biggest marketplace crashed. Major marketplace been on and off all weekend, mostly down, currently down all day.

#3810 2 years ago

I think this extended "dip" is about to come to an end. Not saying there won't be more dips...there will be, but they will be much shorter. We will see a new ATH (my guess...before the end of November).

As Solana and Cardano found out this month, dethroning ETH takes a lot more than talk.

I realized last night that I suck at math.

I'm not sure why, but I was thinking Mekas were going to be about 600 bucks to mint. Turns out it's more like 1700 to mint. Apparently I have a hard time multiplying by .6

Guess I'm out on that as well. I can't afford to gamble that much money, even though I feel like it's practically a guarantee to make money. F'ing ridiculous... so super pissed at myself right now for getting all excited that it was basically a lottery system without all the BS... just turns out that the "BS" is spending a ridiculous amount of money up front, so like many other things, this is just more of the rich stealing from the uber rich, and the peons are left out.

Got out of Dogecoin yesterday and ate my 90 buck loss there as well. Think I'm just about "over it" when it comes to crypto in general...I clearly don't have enough money to do anything useful in crypto short of taking gambles on .000005 cent shitcoins and hoping they explode at some point (Looking at you 1.6 million SHIB).

#3818 2 years ago

But aren't they going to be .2 ETH each?

Okay look, clearly my head isn't screwed on at ALL right now. I swear to christ I saw something about it being .6 yesterday on their discord, but.... I dunno anymore. I just checked the damn thing on my phone and their stuff still says .2

I need a vacation. FFS.... It's not even worth editing my post to make myself look like less of an idiot at this point. I fully accept and claim the title. FML.

You can always buy Bitcoin

I get all my BTC from Nicehash. I clear it out every once in a while for other crypto screwing around. Sitting on around 150 in there right now...should probably move that out into something else...like paying my electric bill.

I maintain 70% dominance with BTC in my crypto portfolio...and have no plans to change that going forward. Well...at some point it might go higher.

I'm not sure I'd ever call what I have a portfolio. Under 1k total. Existing debts get priority over non-company-match investing, so pretty much anything I have in crypto came strictly from mining.

Gotcha...can you direct some of the 401k into GBTC? I would keep it a small percentage...but still. The bulk of what I hold is in retirement accounts.

So are you targeting < $40k for more Bitcoin buying? Or are you projecting it's about bottomed out for now and will be heading up this week? Or just carrying one with regular buying without trying to time the market? I'm happy with my tiny investment, but would be tempted to double it if we get back into the mid-$30s.

Hell, I don't know what it's going to do today/tomorrow/next week...I'm just super bullish long term.

My guess? We won't see it below 37-38k and we might be at/near the bottom now. I have definitely pumped more in recently. But long term 37k vs 43k is a rounding error.

No, pinball is almost exclusively for rich white guys.

If I was sitting on 6.5 million in crypto, I wouldn't be sitting here posting about it, I'd be making sure I have income set up to last me the rest of my life, buy whatever games I wanted, and be playing them, going to the gym, cooking healthier meals with my plethora of free time, etc.... I don't envision myself spending much time on pinball foums in that scenario, at all. I've got probably 7000 hours+ of backlogged games as it is.

Eh, let's face it, there are plenty of multi-millionaires on Pinside, all keeping their ears to the floor of the pinball industry, stock market, crypto market, etc. Both hobbies and wealth require constant maintenance, and thus, we are here chatting about both. Once you are freed up from the grind of paying bills, you may actually find yourself on here even more

Maybe after a while, but certainly not anytime in the near future. I have the tech knowledge to do 99.9% of all repairs myself, and even in the rare occasion I do ask a tech question here, it's more of a sanity check than an actual plea for help. If it wasn't for Ultraman, I wouldn't even be on here now, but I like keeping up with news on a 8k purchase that's going to take a year to get here.

In relevant news, Meka NFT raffle pushed to wednesday Oct. 6th, 11pm Central time. Team seems like they're really trying to make sure that things go smoothly and that the art is up to snuff across the board.

He first published his S2F model on Bitcoin in March of 2019...it's been scary accurate...so far. What's weird is that BTC's price has been tracking the absolute bottom of his prediction these last few months. Is that good or bad? I have no idea. It makes me think we have a ton of headroom to shoot up. So again, that 135k December close is his absolute worst case scenario!

I feel like with the attention span of the majority of people involved in NFT's such as these, your window of opportunity is fleeting. Meaning, the longer they've been around, the majority have moved on to the next big thing, that basically these are all hype based - read: social media, rather than any actual popularity/desire, and that after a few months they won't be worth much of anything.

You would be correct, most NFT projects become worthless. Some simply like collecting digital art and NFTs, not worried if they make money or not. You have to admit, the pugs are cute! We’ll see how they do.

.2 ETH each, max of two per wallet. That is, if you’re lucky enough to be selected in the raffle. I plan to buy one or two right after sellout if I strike out on the mint. The MekaVerse NFTs are guaranteed to fly. Hope you’re able to get one
