I took the circular wiper part off of the match unit to clean the contacts and I didn't mark its position so when I reinstalled it I don't know if it matters but now the match number stays lit during the game on the backglass. Does the position matter?

The 0-9 unit wiper goes around continuously so it shouldn’t matter where it goes when it is re installed but it should land on a rivet every time it moves. It shouldn’t stay lit and should only light at game over. Are you sure that the wiper is moving around first of all. Do you hear the bell ring when it scores single points. Does it moves when you push the plunger into the coil

Yeah the unit is working when I score single points it rotates and the bell sounds. I had to repair the units score reel as it was missing the plunger on the coil but that appears to be working fine and resets to zero at game start. Thanks for your help

so is the match number changing with the advance of the 0-9 unit? it should. But staying lit during the game means a contact on your game over relay is gapped too close

The number changes with the advance of the 0-9 unit. I will check the game over relay. Thanks

Checked the game over relay. The gaps are fine. Don't know where to look next

To clarify, your match lights stay on and change as you play the game? There's not a lot going on with those lights:

The switch on the X/Game Over relay is a likely reason they might stay on as mentioned above. Even though it may be gapped correctly, the solder tabs or something else may be shorting it closed.

Since this happened after you disassembled the Match Unit, it's also possible that you've introduced a short that defeats the X/Game Over relay switch. If you unplug the jones plug that enables the Match feature do the lights stay on? That might give you a better idea of where the problem is.

Unpluged the jones plug match lights still on. Game over relay is working properly no visible shorts there. Another wierd thing is that only the numbers 9,8,7,6,2 light during the game play. don't know where to look next. Thanks Mark

If you unplugged the match feature adjustment and the lights are still on, the X/Game Over relay has nothing to do with it since you've effectively removed it from the circuit. That leaves something wrong with the 0-9 unit as a likely problem. If you can take a few clear, sharp photos of the 0-9 unit maybe someone could compare it to theirs, or spot a problem.

There's a Side Rollover Special adjustment for liberal/conservative somewhere that also uses the 0-9 unit. Does its position change the number of match lights that light up during a game?

Thanks Mark
I will post some pics tomorrow and check the side rollover special adjustment

Problem solved. After I diassembled the 0-9 match unit I put the 3 sided bracket which the wiper arm attaches to in reverse flipped it and match feature works as it should. Thanks to all for there help on this
