    Easiest way to feel out scams. Tell the seller by some stroke of luck, your work is sending you to the the very same town where the pins are located, and you'll be there for 3 days. And you'll be able to pay in cash within 24 hours after seeing them, at the XYZ Bank. Real sellers, having real items will be ecstatic. Scammers will quickly recite from the "Excuse Book" as to why they can't meet.
    In the real world, people don't list items for sale A)when they are out of town or B)in a location other than where they reside

    If the seller actually is a straight shooter, simply be honest and tell them in this day & age, with online thievery being so widespread, its simply one of the methods you use to screen out the crooks.
    Nearly all online sellers realize long distance buyers are going to possess some angst.
