I cradle a lot more when I play a game the first few times just so I can get a good look at the inserts, especially with modern game where multiple inserts are flashing almost all the time. Part of me thinks it gets a bad rap from the pro players that frequently time out modes or take sips of water after every other shot. Another part of me, however, thinks that maybe this reaction is because modern games are almost demanding more deliberate and controlled play. Shots are tighter. Ramps and loops that carefully feed the flippers make up most of the shots, as opposed to target banks which can throw the ball anywhere. Combos like TRON's End of Line and Star Trek's shot doublers require some forethought and are more important than ever to achieving a good score, while less emphasis is placed on timed modes or frenzies which might favor faster "run 'n gun" players. Even then, they usually can be stacked with a multiball to remove most of the danger.
