Got my silver field today. On some of the inserts I can feel a very slight edge if I run my fingers over it (notably the mansion and the power). Is this normal? I cannot see it but just feel it. The inserts feel slightly higher on one or more edges. Not sure if this is normal as I have no experience with brand new games/fields.

My silver is supposed to be here this week .
I would also like to know if this is expected or normal .

Could just be my imagination but hard to tell. I do not feel it over every insert.

Building my first CPR TAF as I type and I am very happy with it overall. The fit and finish are good and the only thing I would be on the lookout for are the exact same things you have to be on the lookout for with factory playfields.
Those things would be a few post holes that are slightly too small and double checking the dimples as you go.
Again these are things that are common on all replacement playfields both factory and reproduction.
Hopefully I can put a whole album up for it shortly.

Quoted from KevinCPR:

Folks,
Just a general update and a few comments:
We're in the homestretch to get the last of the TAFs rolled out to everybody. The balance of December and possibly a couple weeks into January to see the last ones away to paid customers. We're putting out the last waves of emails this week, and the final folks will have 2-4 weeks to make payment... meanwhile as the last waves of TAFs emerge from clearcoat, we'll be shipping for these last payments over the next 3-6 weeks until all are done. IF there are any leftovers, we'll be posting them to our site for general public sales. It's going to be close.
Keep in mind, this was a gigantic run made to serve 3 years of counting heads & taking names. The original "200" plan to finish the revived IPB mission (after their bankruptcy) quietly went out the window in the first year, after seeing the speed of preorder slot sellout... with close negotiation, our run was extended to much much bigger numbers. So our goal was to serve a Preorder List, a huge re-opened Waiting List, and in the end a Standby List for leftovers. Wanting to serve not only everybody, by guaranteeing them a playfield, but for allowing potential multiples if folks wanted more than one. This run was like three to five typical "CPR runs" in total... squeezed into Q4 2017 as the release time.
Yes, we thought we'd see all these off in 2 months. It's become 3 months. We learned for the first time, our clearcoater could not keep up with this pace of distribution. With clearcoating being the last step, we're getting them paid and shipped faster than we get them out of clearcoat... creating shipping surges, then quiet lulls in between. That is why some people shipped 3-4 weeks after payment, and some the same day of payment. This was NOT a "make a bunch of playfields and just put them up for sale" project. This was planned and assessed for years - to be the run of all runs. To get everybody served, and have plenty for extras and multiples. That is why the 'other' TAF run was so confusing, and not required... but oh well.
Lastly, as for the recent meme of "CPR Golds have potential issues" in this thread... just remember that 10-12 guys showing tiny things found are the results after hundreds and hundreds of playfields have shipped. It's the old addage: "the unpleased will speak up and report, the pleased will have nothing to show or report". So while we appreciate those happy folks who showed their beautiful open box pics, keep in mind that the 'issues' always get the attention, and we know that. We work 1-on-1 with any customers coming to us to make their case and seek exchanges. It's not a big deal, we're easy to work with. It's also important that folks remember that CPR Gold is a grading score of 97, 98 or 99 out of 100. That's a 3% leeway from "perfect" (no playfield is perfect). While some of the Silver guys have allegedly found no issues... they are simply not seeing what I saw Which I guess is a good thing. Different eyes see different things. As proven by some of the stuff I missed ! No worries - we exchange when shown the case. As long as people are happy with their final keeper, it's not difficult to solve.
That's it for now. The last of the run is up for grabs, and we're doing the final emails all this week. PLUS we're going to re-email the WHOLE set of groups again, in ASCII format email, as we found out some ISPs put our colorful HTML emails into the spam folder ! Just to make sure nobody misses this time in the hobby.

...So are you saying there is still a chance to score a playfield???

#608 1 year ago

So went over my silver again and noticed quite a few issues with the clear. There are a lot of what look to be pinholes in it. Near the A in shoot again the clear also has a dip to an edge (attached a picture).

Looks like 2 or 3 blemishes in the art work that will be visible once assembled. Attaching picture of those. Mostly just want people to know about these when they ask about silvers.

I know I bought a silver and there may be art issues but was at least hoping the clear would not have these pinholes and especially the issue at the shoot again. Is this to be expected and I am just being too anal here? I really did not want to have to send the replacement field off for clear coating...

Edit: also should note that yes, the inserts that I could feel you can see if you have a light source reflecting off of it. Also tested with a crayon on its side over paper. There is certainly a lip there.

Almost finished.
This will be as straightforward a TAF restoration as I have done in years.
No mods just LEDs.
The CPR playfield has been easy to work with overall. Everything has lined up pretty well. There are a few extra steps but again it is not unexpected.
Look forward to playing it tomorrow and getting a better sense of how everything lined up shot and flow wise.

Do you have any issues with the clear having pin holes? or the edges of inserts being raised slightly?

I specifically looked near the power and didn't see anything, I ran the back of my hand and fingernails over the mansion inserts and felt one slight bump "maybe", i do have a couple little white spots in the left in/outlanes. No biggie .
Honestly i had the box open for 10 minutes and wrapped it back up.

Those are more than likely the holes where the wire guides get installed. Check the right side too. Should be able to see the holes from the back side. You need to carefully drill those out so the clear doesn't crack when pounding in the guides.

I looked, they are not. They are in clusters. Kind of looks like a small amount of fish eyeing.

Sorry, I was quoting golfingdad1. Even my gold is not without some blemishes and such. They may not be perfect, but compared to my trashed original, I'm personally not complaining. I'd contact CPR if you haven't and still have any concerns.

I see a lot of complaints on areas that get covered with ramps and what not. These are a hand made product. Complete perfection and time, we would waited 2 more years at twice the price. Just saying. A little to much OCD in this thread.
But in this case, yours is special, Cousin IT hair a plus, first mod.

Have all the CPR payment emails been sent out I’m still waiting ?

Thanks heard back this morning. Apparently my issues will even out. The only REALLY bad thing is the inlane art and that will be covered by a cliffy. At least I don't have a pube in my clear

Get used to it - 99% of the pfs I've bought have this

Unboxed my silver as soon as I got through the door. Looks stunning. For the purpose of documenting what I found, I’ve attached photos of the defects but I’m 100% happy with the product. The off color defect in the green will be hidden by a ramp so no foul there.

Expect less get less. Is that what your saying? I'm still happy with it, just documenting for others. I won't be putting it in for a while, too many other projects going on.

Quick question. I received my order tonight and e-mailed CPR, but maybe somebody can get me an answer tonight.

I ordered two golds. One of the ones I got was very nice and stamped "gold" on the back. The other isn't nearly as nice and has no stamp. Do they stamp silver and bronze? I'm thinking my unstamped one isn't a gold.

I have a silver, and it *is* stamped.

Looks like I’m going to buy a mirco still no email from CPR their system sucks

Hmmm. So either mine is bronze and they don't stamp bronze, or mine was accidently not stamped and could be meant to be any of the grades. If it's gold, I wish it was stamped for proof.
