Quoted from vireland:

Let me boil it down to a VERY simple A/B for you:
A> CPR is using better wood and it does not crater, only dimples like the old pre-2008 "normal"
B> Stern is using lesser wood and it DOES crater much more noticibly than old pre-2008 "normal"
People saying Stern playfield wood is the same as it's always been are lying or blind, and CPRs very clear explanation of why things changed in 2008 and what choices they made (better) vs what choices Stern made (worse) give us the why in great detail.

Yes, your post is way more agreeable when you dropped all the BS elements you were touting before like 'for $12' and 'stern cheaping out to save $12...'

But again, you extrapolate way too much about the 2008 change CPR mentioned. They mentioned a supply change difference... again you are extrapolating wayy to much from a cite.

I know where I stand on dimple-gate... but that doesn't mean I skew the facts or quotations to support my conclusion.

After reading this thread I do have some extra hope. I've been watching CPR's site for.....erm....some time, in the hope there would be a Flash Gordon. (I think there may have already been one in the past, but I must have bought my machine after they were all long gone). Having now read here that they may be close to being able to do smaller runs, even though they won't be screen printed, I am a bit more optimistic about being able to upgrade my trashed playfield. Silk screened would be wonderful, but honestly, crayon would almost be better than bare wood, so the digital option that actually allows me to see a playfield will be a considerable improvement.

Fingers crossed.

Take a look at Stu's custom Flash vs Arrow to see what the printer is capable of. BTW, we swapped out our clear bottles and now use 8 colors so the printer is even more capable than when we printed the Flash Vs Arrow PF, glass and plastics.

That one looks amazing. It would be nice to think you'll be able to offer much more frequent lower runs of games in the future. Since once you have the artwork prepped, sized and coloured correctly and saved for electronic printing, presumably lower number runs won't be an issue. Only forty dollars price difference between screen print and digital is probably not going to help the popularity of digital, but at least there will be something to buy if you're not going to be offering screen printing for a title in low numbers.

Really wish they would do another Diner silkscreen run. They say the orange color won't match in digital. I never got contacted while on the preorder list ,yet they sold out Diner on the website. You would think preorder customers would be notified that they were selling playfields on the website.
