I just bought a project Gorgar. CPR has the playfield on pre-order. I would like to hear people's experiences (good and bad) before coughing up $650.

    #2 6 years ago

All I can say is try to actually get a response from them before spending any money with them.

CPR is great. Without them tons of games would be in terrible condition now. The hobby owes them a huge debt of gratitude.

Care to expand on this? Personal experience?

I’ve purchased a Taxi playfield and most recently a 8 Ball Deluxe. Great products and I’m so lucky to get get both of them as they are unobtainium now. It may take some time to go from pre order to production. They don’t ask for any money until the playfield is ready to ship.

CPR is great for the hobby and I have purchased numerous items. Some are fantastic, some have issues. Regardless, they always try to make it right.

Personal experience. Have never been able to receive response from them. Have tried to purchase, and even followed the instructions on their website, never a response. Glad for those that actually can get a response. I have tried several times over the past 5 years with no luck. Preorders, Bronze, you name it. No response.

it maybe years until they make the playfield

Have you tried sending an email to them from another email provider? At times over the years, emails from CPR were being blocked by my ISP without my knowledge, they claimed it was further back than them. Anyway, I used my alternative email account (gmail) when corresponding with CPR and never had an issue.

    I just jumped in blindly
Paid in full for 2 Addams Family play-fields with paypal,
On January 13 and just hoping they will show up one day.
I’ll let you know how my $1700 trust in them goes..
I’m feeling pretty confident just from the great reputation they have.

Sometimes in life, you just have to accept that you've been banned

I bought a Gold Firepower playfield and it was nothing short of amazing. Installed it looked better than new. I know, I remember playing FP new in 1980. I have a Gold Fish Tales playfield that i bought from them. It looks nothing short of beautiful.

Never had an issue this them. They were great to deal with on both orders. Just be careful not to crack the clear when you install posts.

Exactly why I quit using "Dear Motherfuckers" at the top of my emails.

    #14 6 years ago

That certainly helps to not start your letter that way!

    #15 6 years ago

I'm on the pre-order list for Gorgar and Paragon, but I've not seen anything negative about them. I know that if you preorder and and back out during production of that playfield, that they ban you.

I would think that if there is enough poor customer service that we would see a blown up Pinside thread about it, pitch forks and all.

    #16 6 years ago

I have ordered three playfields from them, plastics from them and emailed them and have never had a problem.

    #17 6 years ago

    Playfields...awesome.
    Backglasses....meh.

    #18 6 years ago

Have 2 playfields installed and 3 plastic sets. All top notch.

Patiently waiting and waiting on Gorgar playfield. I ordered a plastic set after they announced the field and it's getting lonely in that box. I saw the Gorgar plastics are sold out now.

    +1.

    I'll add plastics are 50 / 50.

A few years ago my buddy was crying that I did not answer his emails.

I asked him what address he was sending them from.

Upon searching, I found a dozen of his emails in my spam box.

Turns out he got a job at a bank, and his signature line said "Let us REFINANCE your MORTGAGE for you today!"

The words Mortgage and Refinance both trigger my spam filter. The only way he could have got shltcanned faster is if he also had Herbal Viagra in his mails.

    #21 6 years ago

Ive purchased 2 backglasses and 3 plastic sets from them over the years. Never an issue and great product. They are not always easy to get hold of but they always come through with orders.

    #22 6 years ago

i'm glad CPR exist don't get me wrong but not everything they make is perfect.

but the centaur playfield was amazing.

    #23 6 years ago

Their the playfield product is excellent. I love my Bad Cats playfield and wouldn't hesitate to order another one from them again. Faithfully awaiting Elvira. . .

What's meh with their BGs? Color? Image sharpness? Was thinking to get a SoF glass someday, but maybe I won't?

    #25 6 years ago

I think the problem some people have with CPR is that they want a 1 on 1 customer service experience. With lots of back and forth and pictures/questions/answers. CPR prints money hand over fist, not much need to waste all the extra time with somewhat unnecessary questions.

    #26 6 years ago

I've bought quite a few playfields from CPR. I only had one issue that I learned about here on Pinside concerning, I think it was, Cyclone. I had purchased it but had not opened it. There was a problem with the clear coat and mine had that same problem. Communicated with CPR and they offered to make it right and credit me for the return shipping. They redid the clear to an absolutely flawless finish!

SoF glass is an awesome upgrade IMO. I could nitpick a couple things, but the positives far outweigh minor negatives that nobody else would notice (such as runes missing on the sword).

    #28 6 years ago

I've bought about a half dozen playfields from CPR. I have no complaints at all. All of them look great.

    #29 6 years ago

Sounds like generally positive feedback on the quality of the product. Thanks for everyone who responded. I will be emailing in my pre-order today.

    #30 6 years ago

Good, might get the numbers up enough for them to start making the playfields.

Too bad they didnt show how many people already signed up for preorders. Might encourage people who are waiting in the weeds to jump on board and put a pf into the Pipe.

I’ve done swaps on Black Knight and Whirlwind, and I have CPR playfields waiting in my closet for Skateball, Medusa and Mata Hari. Overall the quality is very good. There are some guidelines on their website for installing the playfield that I recommend reading a few times. For example, don’t rely on the dimples on the back of the playfield - line up the part on the top and mark on the bottom. Pre-drill every hole topside. They do make small mistakes, but they’re usually fixable.

CPR plastics have all been great for me, backglasses not so great. But I think they’ve switched to a new process and I look forward to seeing the results.

the recent Playboy backglass was disappointing

    #34 6 years ago

I’d agree I bought 3 playfields from them and 2 plastic sets, I was more than happy with the outcomes, none were perfect, however I’m a bronze type guy. I buy pins to play them.

    #35 6 years ago

I've had playfields and plastics from CPR and they have always been great. The first playfield I got from them, a Funhouse was simply stunning and I haven't seen a slip in quality over the years. You have to be patient with their timetables and their preorder/order process, but it's all worth it to have such great reproductions available.

    #36 6 years ago

PINBOT/SPACE ODYSSEY. Back glasses bought separately. My space odyssey was trashed so getting a new one was a necessity. the quality was good, colors were close to original but not 100% . my pinbot had a decent trans-light I just wanted to upgrade. Again looked nice, good quality, but in retrospect and for the price i should have lived with the original . I may need a FLIGHT 2000 glass, possibly ? I'll have to check VIDS b/g repair page

If they do run Gorgar playfields, is it likey they rerun the plastic set? I can't drop a new playfields in with my trashed plastics!

    #38 6 years ago

If they rerun it probably won't be soon. That's why I went ahead and got the plastics before they sold out. If you REALLY want the playfield you better look up a plastic set now while your chances are better. They were $119 from CPR. I see a couple sets for sale for about 15~20 more right now but they will be gone if the playfields move up the list.

CPR is great except for their pre-order system. I have been skipped on at least 3 pre-orders by now which resulted in having to buy from 3rd party vendors.

    #41 6 years ago

Did CPR ever make TAF plastics?

    #42 6 years ago

    Nope planetary did

Id email kevin and ask about that.

CPR is great with the products they can deliver. I've had several plastic sets missing pieces but they always made it right. My only gripe is the time frame on PF's. I understand it's a long process but several years seems a bit much. I'd currently would sign up for a Playboy, but don't want to commit to something I won't see for 3-5 years or longer.

I have had great outcomes with CPR. I have preordered and gained possession of Corvette, ToTAN, FT and Whirlwind. All of which are stunning examples. Are they perfect? No, but you have to use a trained eye to see the micro imperfections. WW (the first run)had some fischers on the inserts that kinda bugged me but it was 100% better than what was in the game! Plastics are also quality in my book! Perfect? No but sooooo much better than busted up yellowed plastics. CPR is an asset to the pinball community!

I visited JJP factory last July and at the time didn't know they buy their playfields from CPR. Not entirely sure what was going on with the early WOZ title's but I do know JJP buys their pf's from them. The discussion was brought up over the whole ghosting insert issues with Stern and Jack said he has never had that issue with CPR. He thinks it has something to do with the ply count on the playfields but who knows. CPR makes quality stuff.

    #48 6 years ago

    JJP are Mirco, I thought?

    #49 6 years ago

I certainly do not any experience in the PF reproduction business but why with certain high dollar games like Fathom and Centaur, why not make an extra 50-75 Gold PF's after the pre-order's and keep them in stock at a much higher price like $850-1,000? They're at that and more in the secondary market now. I would love to know how many PF that were sold have actually been installed in a game or are sitting in a closet collecting dust.

    #50 6 years ago

It is challenging to see a list “closed” for what appears to be a heck of a long time before it goes into production. I have acquired games that needed playfields that were not in production, but I could not order because the list was closed. The only list I’ve been on is Banzai Run and I’m pretty sure it will only be made once they hear I’ve sold it.
