Quoted from Sinistarrett:Just got my email the Fathom playfields are done being clearcoated and ready to ship!! And plastic sets with topper available as well!
Did anybody receive a fathom playfield yet?
Emailed on the 27th at 357pm. Anyone with fathom later than that get an email? I have been obsessively checking every day.

I was in on it before that and I have not heard a thing as of yet. I did get an email from kevin on 12/27 that I was the sixth person on the list.
I received my pre-order email on Dec. 5 and paid the same day. I was sent a UPS notification for a shipment arrival date of 12/20.

Mine should be here by the end of the week
Got mine today.
Here is a side by side comparison of the latest CPR release on the left and the previous CPR release on the right. No I'm not hoarding them, they are for project games with totally trashed playfields.
The latest release is sharper, the blacks really pop, the dark blue matches the cabinet better and the timber used in the playfield is the correct thickness to an original. The previous release was thicker.
I'm liking the newest the most and will use it in my keeper.
Wow, the latest run is the one to get for a restoration! You can see the sharpness in the girl in the center of the playfield. I need to get one of these.
I think the last run looks better. More authentic coloring.
With that said I have a new Fathom PF from the last run that I would happily trade for a CPR reproduction Flash Gordon playfield. Please PM if anyone is interested. Happy to provide plenty of pictures.
Wonder which one will find me sooner? A CPR Flash Gordon playfield or a local beater Fathom that I can do a full restore with PF swap.

No. It sounds like you're hoarding, bro. Sorry.
Dang, I wish I'd done the Fathom preorder. I recently acquired Crispin's "Sandy" Fathom described and pictured in this thread https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/superstorm-sandy-fathom-lucky-or-stupid
Had I known early this year that I was going to add a Fathom to my collection, I would have jumped all over these as I did with the Centaur PF run. I had planned to let it sit over the winter and start cleaning it up next spring, and I'm not otherwise in a rush to swap it, but I'm also thinking if anyone with a new Fathom PF but no machine yet to put it in is interested, I could go for a trade. Looking for a really nice Xenon, Future Spa, Skateball, Mr & Mrs Pacman, or......?

Yesssss I finally received my Fathom email from Kevin! I placed my order on 12/26/15 and just paid for the gold combo package. Merry Christmas to Dad for a change!!
Well I just went thru about 300 emails from my other email account and found my payment instructions from CPR for my fathom playfield. It is dated 10 days ago and they say the spot is only good for 7 days. Well I sent payment and will see what happens.
Why do they only do a run of 30 when they know they will all instantly sell out? There's huge demand for Fathom, I'm not sure why they don't try to cater to that.

It keeps the prices high. Also, it controls the space they have.

Is that confirmed that they did only 30 of them in this run?
Damn that's freakin horrible Fiber dude! Email Kevin and let him know immediately cause they're still shipping golds but only to those that were on pre order. The payment link explicitly states that you can only buy what you pre ordered. The boutique re-run of 30 playfields was offered up to keep their machines running while they were waiting for inserts for other playfields I believe. For others like Jibmums that are hoping, keep following you're interested. You never know everyone's circumstances. CPR often has people unfortunately unable to complete their order for one reason or another, (especially during the holiday season!)
Yeah Fiberdude i emailed Kevin today and he said the next batch of Fathom playfields is getting Fedexed out tomorrow (Friday). Email him and maybe they can get yours out in tomorrows batch!

And I keep checking the email account that I emailed them from.

I think they had enough inserts to do this "boutique" Fathom & Centaur run while waiting from Addams. That & it keeps people coming back for more. I check their site pretty religiously.
Quoted from Crispin:they're still shipping golds but only to those that were on pre order.
How does this work? So are all 30 that they made Golds, and then they will have some Silver and Bronze available to those that did not pre-order? I am unfamiliar with the process.
Quoted from pinlink:How does this work? So are all 30 that they made Golds, and then they will have some Silver and Bronze available to those that did not pre-order? I am unfamiliar with the process.
CPR stated the entire run was 30, and it's assumed that those 30 would be graded Gold/Silver/Bronze. So theoretically, someone pre-ordering at the tail end of the availability window could end up with a Bronze, if none/few of the pre-orderers bailed out.
Quoted from pinlink:How does this work? So are all 30 that they made Golds, and then they will have some Silver and Bronze available to those that did not pre-order? I am unfamiliar with the process.
That would be a no and a no. Originally, I was told 30 were made in total. However, recently others were told "there could be more than 30".
The gold, silver, and bronze designated PF's were all "claimed" (nearly 2 years ago) through the preorder process. The ones that people do not pay for COULD be sold after everyone has been contacted that was on the lists. It is a slower process than people think. Patience is key.
There is no way to know how many of each grade will be made until the run is done AND they cure. With a small run such as this, the short answer is "not many". The final grade factors in MANY things that could go wrong in the entire process. I'm still hoping to buy a bronze from a reseller or a used pull, out of an existing machine, but I won't hold my breath.
I would have bought the NOS one listed on Pinside yesterday for $950, had it been drilled and dimpled with no damage.
If I can't track one down, I will just restore the one currently in my game.
I am glad to see that most people posting here are using them in games and not trying to hoard and profit by reselling.
I brought my machine to expo this year so that people could play it. I plan on continuing to bring my game to shows because it seems that people just don't get a chance to play Fathom at many shows, because of it's difficulty to track down and the high cost of ownership. I actually had two people at this years show track me down and personally thank me for bringing it. I was lucky that the only issue it had in four days was one locked on transistor/coil failure.

Paid for mine Thurs Dec 8. Arrived in to me in Australia Tues Dec 13
Now more work to do. Have been concentrating my efforts lately into fitting out a sprinter van into a camper
I have an original PF with wear and a set of overlays up for sale(one on clear plastic and another one on white backing).
Make an offer...
Quoted from ripple:The shooter lane groove is a lot more shallow than the original
I guess nothing is perfect. You might have to
make a jig for a router and recut and seal
the playfield. The people involved should
have known. Or, the were using pre-cut
playfields and just did not bother with the
little details.

Were all the Centaurs in this run done like this? Were the Fathoms in this run done correctly?
Quoted from ShaunoftheDead:Were all the Centaurs in this run done like this? Were the Fathoms in this run done correctly?
Same thing for Fathom.
But does this really affect ball effect ?
I think they had too much complaints about seeing the underlayers of plywood looking ugly.....it's my opinion.

I really hope that this isn't a necessary step.
Anyone received their Fathom playfield yet?
Also, is it necessary to have the CPR playfield cleared before installing, or is the clear that it comes with sufficient?

The clear is sufficient but both of mine have minor flaws. Depends on what level of perfection you desire.
Has anyone actually started to swap in a new Fathom PF? Would love to hear details about how things are lining up, ect.
Quoted from snyper2099:Has anyone actually started to swap in a new Fathom PF? Would love to hear details about how things are lining up, ect.
I did a swap with an earlier version of the previous CPR playfields. No real surprises but I would recommend taking your time aligning the drop target mechanisms, cleaning out the clear from the roll overs and oh yeah...I replaced all the 555 sockets with 44/47 sockets.
Quoted from TZ:Where is the best place to buy the 44/47 sockets?
Personally I'm not sure where the best price will be found. Generally they are pretty spendy. I did have a source for one of the common sockets (the ones used for under playfield feature lighting) for only $0.35 per...however, they are no longer available. I got most of mine from recycling off old playfields.
Pinball Resource for generally under $1.00 each. You can get them on Ebay for $6.99 each!!!!!
Hey guys, I don't have Fathom or Centaur, but I did just pre-order a sorcerer from CPR last week.
Weird thing is I never got a response to my order email... or my follow up inquiry.
I know it's gonna be a couple years, but is this normal for them?
