With our Addams playfield run moving through The Pipe (and actually leapfrogging over Earthshaker), it's coming a little sooner than we expected. In anticipation of the approaching release, we recently went back into the Addams Inbox and did an updated accounting of the preorders - contrasted with the latest cancellation email counts... it seems we have openings ! And a decent amount. This is good news.
Along with counts of the additional extra insert sets we had via the molding factory counting them by weight rather than actual numbers, we lucked out and had the ability to squeak out a decent percentage more playfields than originally expected (and we made sure we used ALL the inserts up, for darn sure). PPS gave the green light to no problem expanding the run that little bit beyond the original production numbers, since the opportunity was here at the moment. So we did.
All this, balanced with the constantly repeated 30-40% abandonment rate at shipping time shown run after run (seemingly regardless of title) - the numbers tell us that we can confidently take a few dozen more candidates. This is our longest run since TOTAN, and while it's doing really well in numbers relative to the "old titles" ... it is showing cancellation/abandonment stresses on the consumer end similar to what we went through with TOTAN (where we had a 50% abandonment rate at the end - and we killed the second wave of production because of it).
Bottom line - we don't want to go through with a "TOTAN situation" again - so we're re-opening up the Addams list, and taking names. We want all of these Addams to go to homes, and thus we're making sure this run gets the buying base it deserves. We want every one to sell.
