Just curious. The little I've played of it, it's been a blast.
Good question...I like it too! But I have only played about 20 games on it over 6-7 different sessions.
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:I don't even know what the hell it stands for so I'm neutral on it. Effing pinball acronyms!
The OP is probably referring to Champion Pub. It's a fun game when you play it for the first time but I found the novelty wears off with the boxer, speed bag and jump rope toys.
I think it gets pretty repetitive. There isn't much flow, its a very stop and go game except during fights. Difficulty is low.
Not to say there aren't a lot of things going for the game. Original theme with a great art package. Unique game design and engineering, easy to understand gameplay. Great sense of humor.

That is correct, I was referring to Champion Pub.
Novelty wears off very quickly. That and the fact that sellers want $5K for it makes it the easiest non-purchase decision ever, at least for me.
It's one of my top 5 from Pinball Arcade, very difficult for me. I've never even seen one in real life though.
Quoted from loppydog:I love CP...at least the small amount I have played
Quoted from RDReynolds:The little I've played of it
Quoted from Captive_Ball:I like it too! But I have only played about 20 games
This is why you guys enjoy it. It is a really fun game for a really large lineup or for a short amount of time. It is also a fun multiplayer game as well. The game is pretty straightforward but has some cool scoring options, other than that, it is pretty tough to enjoy in a small lineup.
Steve-O is an all time stereotypical classic though.....
Quoted from mcclad:It is probably my favorite machine.
Quoted from jayhawkai:That and the fact that sellers want $5K for it makes it the easiest non-purchase decision ever, at least for me.
I too would love this pin in my collection. The times i have played it i had a blast. But, sellers who want 5 grand kills it for me as well.
Quoted from jayhawkai:Novelty wears off very quickly. That and the fact that sellers want $5K for it makes it the easiest non-purchase decision ever, at least for me.
This. It a tremendously fun game at first, but it doesn't hold up to the test of time.

I like the game, novelity never wore out when I owned one (6 months).
Getting to be pub champion is a challenge and the cash fights are tons of fun.
Seems to be priced right at $3000-$4000 (conditionwise) IMO.
I hear both sides....some say it gets old, others say it one they should have never sold. Maybe someday I will be able to give my own opinion.
I barely got to play it at MGC.. I'm digging the pinball arcade version. Reminds me of circus voltaire a bit, except a boxer to hit instead of a clown
Quoted from Atomicboy:Isn't the biggest complaint incomplete/unfinished code?
If so, doubtful anything would change at this point in time ...... lol ...
I'm not sure about unfinished code but the scoring is unbalanced. You are awarded way to many points for the spitting gallery.
Don't hate it, it is fun to play on location or at someone elses house. But, too repetitive and simple for home use in my small collection.
Owned one for a short while. Fun pin .great toys. Would have kept it but so any others to try. Guests loved it. Great pin for a larger collection.
Quoted from RDReynolds:CP: Why do people hate it?
I believe the answer to the question above would be because the software is unfinished, it gets boring (in the absence of a large line-up) because ultimately, there isn't a whole lot to do (despite the awesome toys).
I like the game myself, and sure wouldn't mind owning an example one day.
I've owned one for about a year and its one of my favorites. Guests are always drawn to it also. This one is a keeper for me.
Quoted from jayhawkai:Novelty wears off very quickly. That and the fact that sellers want $5K for it makes it the easiest non-purchase decision ever, at least for me.
Bingo. And I haven't even owned one.
The jump rope and speed bag wears thin very quickly, and they play a pretty big role in the pin.
I love mine and its a big hit when there's people over , they have a blast with it . It is my favorite game to go up to and just play a quick game . The call outs from the boxers crack me up everytime and it looks great ! I just put mine up for sell and I know ill regret it and the only reason is I need money for my business . Yes I'm one of those sellers that's asking $5000 but I truly think its worth it. They only made 1300 or so of these and with it being released on virtue pinball it's getting noticed . Oh well , on with the show .
A game I enjoy very much, especially when sharing with multiple players. I can understand why it might grow old if played over and over by yourself, but would still like to add to my collection and find out. Considering where prices have gone $5,000 is probably not unreasonable just out of my range.
I had one for a year or so. It's a fun game and tends to get alot of attention by everyone that sees it. The different personalities and toys are certainly unique.
It's worth owning for a while if you have a few machines.... it'll get old quick if it's your only game.
I sold mine fully shopped and everything 100% for 4k on fleabay.
Just make sure the boxer works right before you plonk down a wad of cash for it. The wiring coming out the boxers base is a F&%$! to redo. I had to do both mine and a friends CP. On his the coil wire and switch matrix ended up shorting... cpu kaplooey!

Pretty much right on the money in my opinion. For some reason, I never get bored with this game. Ever. I always like to see how many fights I can win. To all the owners out there, whats the most fights you had in a game, and the most wins?

Dunno how many fights, but I set my machines up tough and could crack a billion with some regularity....
I have one and love it in a decent sized collection (8 machines). It is a completely unique game, very fun for kids and non-pinheads. This is my number one criteria for owning it, as the vast majority of people that come into my game room are not pinheads. Everyone that walks up to it can figure out what to do - hitting the boxer with the ball is pretty intuitive. The art is great, sounds well incorporated, it has several fun toys and it is just plain FUN.
Biggest complaints that I have are with the code. The scoring is heavily weighted to some of the cheesy video modes, and extra balls are probably too numerous. If someone ever recreates the rule set (like with Cactus Canyon Continued), this game really could be amazing. But even as it is now, it's a great game. It is a completely different kind of fun than games with deep rule sets like Twilight Zone, but I love it.
Quoted from Hi-Fi:You are awarded way to many points for the spitting gallery.
That sounds like someone who hasn't played enough 200M cash fights!
The game was buggy for a long time, so when it was new I think people soured on it pretty harshly. For me, I think you can be a little too successful at just picking off jackpots. It has some good ideas (skill plunge is interesting; knockout rule), but it is pretty repetitive.
Quoted from wonderpuddle:The art is great
My favourite cabinet artwork.Love the teal brickwork with the gold lettering.Front and head artwork top it off beautifully.
CFTBL, Wh20, MB, SS, TSPP, lots but it will all have to wait till I have more money. wouldn't have sold Indy if I didn't have to. I now have a arcade in its place that is pretty great with like 2000 games. Needs a bit of work, LCD new buttons ect just cosmetic. That should keep me occupied enough until I can get a new pin.
I don't even think this thing is a pinball game. It's a bunch of novelty toys in a box.
1) Operators never kept them around because they were too tempermental on site
2) You never see this game in serious tournaments due to the lopsided rules/scoring
I could go into more depth about this, but you can read my review if you really want to know how I feel about this title.
KMR
I have never played this title but with only about 1300 games made and 6 on ebay makes me think this game isn't that great.
What Caucasian2Step said. It's feels to me kind of like a boxing novelty game more than a traditional pinball game. It's cool as something completely different in a bigger collection though, and I do like it. I also want it, but there's always some other pin that I want more for the money, so I never buy it.
