Hi mfresh
Here http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=393&picno=30217 on the bottom of the picture we see a "trough" and an open rectangle to count visually the balls. Here http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=581&picno=555 we see no such thing. Here http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2459&picno=46683 we see top-middle the stuff mounted below the Outhole --- a switch called "Ball Return Switch". Also on top - way to the right there is the so-called "Through-Switch". In Your post-1 You talk about "Through Switch" - is it the switch below the Outhole or is it the switch "Surf Champ way to the right" ? Buckaroo has in the schematics 2nd-Trough-Switch and 3rd and 4th and 5th --- in Your schematics is just one Trough-Switch ?

I do not really understand Your "post-1, Basically ...". Here http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=581&picno=17741 I see +/- playfield feature "Roto Target Value ..." --- when YOU manually activate these switches lit / un-lit: Does the pin then nice adds points ? or do troubles start ?
