Maybe the lesson is that higher numbers on the "pandemic preparedness index" are more important than "dow jones index" or "gdp"?
Doh. Disney closing starting Sat until end of month.

No question about it. I obviously understand that money is important and we all need it to live, but to put profit and other self interests over other people's lives is disgraceful.
Quoted from DaveH:Because people use their fingers to pick up the samples. They reach into the dish of pretzels or whatever, and dunk into the cheese being sold. If there is a pair of tongs there, and IF they use it, people are all touching the same thing (the tongs).
Costco is much more civilized. A nice lady with white gloves puts pre-portioned samples in little white cups, and you just pick up the little cup without touching anything else. Sometimes there's even a tiny spoon included for consuming your vittles. It's delightful.

I think at this point we can assume everything is closed for “a month.”

Well, since you brought it up. Some people are already speculating that the reason there is no travel ban to the UK and Ireland is because someone owns golf courses there.

Wow! Amazing and yet not the least bit surprising.
Every college and school is closed in the Netherlands starting tomorrow.
I will have vacation until atleast the first of April

Do you really think this is a "non-event"? I am genuinely interested if that is the case and would like to hear why you believe so.

Nope, i was quoting Trump's attitude from the early days of the event.
Quoted from Oaken:who-dey stay safe:
“Ohio Health Dept. Director Amy Acton is saying that evidence of community spread indicates that 1% of Ohioans are currently carrying coronavirus. That's *117,000* people.
Only 5 in Ohio have actually tested positive to this point.”
That's a frightening number already.
Quoted from Zablon:Nope, i was quoting Trump's attitude from the early days of the event.
Good to know. Had to talk with a family member about this. He is in a high risk group - bad lungs, old age, high blood pressure, only listens to a certain news source, etc.
He was quoting our president's comments/tweets to me about flu deaths vs corona deaths and that corona doesn't seem like a big deal in comparison. I had to explain the differences to him in math terms so that he could wrap his head around it.

Haha! Yeah, not in my Costco.
Went to a walk-in clinic because I've had a cough for 8 days, with some coughing fits lasting hours and keeping me awake all night and I've missed work. The walk in clinic referred me to urgent care. They xrayed me. Then they had security guards clear hallways and escort me into isolation at the ER where I sat alone for an hour until someone let me know they don't think I have coronavirus. So that's been my day. Still at the ER. Seems excessive. I was just hoping for something to treat that cough.
I guess we'll know if we should panic if they start shooting anyone with a cough on sight.
The wife said she was going to make a pin that says "I don't have corona, I'm a smoker".

That sucks, hope it turns out alright. Are you the same roffels from SA?
Can't they just administer a test and wait for the results? I was reading that South Korea can take a test and give you the results in 6 hours. Might be a pain to wait around in a room that long (or maybe they'd send you home, tell you to isolate, and wait for a call). But that seems to me like a simpler solution.

I was just at the grocery store and had one of those dumb moments where I choke a bit on my own saliva for 10 seconds. Swear everyone inside looked at me with terror. Just an eery time.

The very same roffels. They don't have enough tests to administer but the doctor came in and reiterated I'm very low risk.
Every time someone says the "Wuhan virus", I get this Busta Rymes song stuck in my head.... Wooo haaa!!!

Unfortunately, sad but true
Just saw on the news that Italy has 34 hospital beds per 10,000 people and the US has 29 per 10,000. Italy supposedly has more beds and doctors per capita than the US and they are currently overwhelmed. More bad news.
Quoted from RTR:Sorry about that, but thanks for asking - the red countries are the ones without free or universal healthcare coverage of some sort.
My only point was that most countries, especially the developed ones, have figured it out and made commitments to providing healthcare to their citizens and residents.
What are the other colors? Especially the yellow

It may get to the point of military style field triage tents in badly hit areas. Not nearly enough ventilators for possible projections.
This afternoon the Alberta government stated that if you travel into Alberta from another Country, you must isolate yourself for 14 days.
Any gathering of more than 250 people will have to be cancelled.

Those are the yellow bellied countries.
Fucking cowards.

Thank you and I will try. Dont laugh but I was pretty damn sick three weeks ago for two weeks straight. I had night sweats for three days followed by a horrible dey cough for three days, aches and chest congestion. I swear I wonder if I may not have had that. They also shut the schools down on my area because there was so many sick kids and teachers etc. I didnt think that I had the flu but I knew it was way worse than your typical cold also. I really just gotta wonder if I had that or not.
Quoted from Who-Dey:. I really just gotta wonder if I had that or not.

Yeah, me too back around Christmas to the second week of January. Lot of fluid and choking, didn't think I'd ever shake it. It was a weird sickness is all I can say.
Quoted from phil-lee:It was a weird sickness is all I can say.
Exactly...that's what I was thinking the whole time that I had it. It wasn't terribly bad but it definitely sucked also. It probably wasn't Coronavirus but I swear I wouldn't be surprised of it was because as you said, it was different..

They actually knew of this strain at the beginning of October. How it got over here earlier than the Health Agencies Tracking I've no idea. As understood from previous reports the second time you get it could be Key.
I'm simply trying to avoid the second Trial.

What do u mean the 2nd time you get it could be key? Wouldn't it be easier on a person the 2nd time?
I just looked, and it was 10/16/19 I was so sick I could barely breathe. I ended up not having to use the inhaler they gave me too much though, between it and the other medication whatever hit me was gone in about 3 days.

Early on during the China outbreak a Report was issued that detailed myocardial shutdowns, I do not remember the source. This secondary phenomena accounted for the people dropping on the street and in Public places.

Well let's not get it again then. We probably didn't have it the first time but just in case we did I think we should avoid it at all costs.
Wow, exact same for me. At the end I was laying under a pile of blankets, shaking like crazy. I had the flu shot in January, so I doubt it was seasonal flu. I hope that was it (COVID-19) and I’m done for a while.

There's so many bugs that it's hard to say really but joke Phil-lee said, it just felt different and I've never had a dry cough like that. I swear I thought that I was going to cough a lung up.
The PGA Tour just cancelled the rest of The Players Championship (they played 1 round) and several events to follow.
The CDC top doc, who calls the shots, has agreed that this virus testing will be free.
Watch as he gets his balls busted by a Cali congresswoman.
Quoted from cottonm4:this virus testing will be free.
Wish we had tests. Wife is up to 103 temp and Dr says stay home, no test...WTF? Not looking forward to the next few days to see if any of kids get it or myself. Hoping it’s “just” the normal flu.
