catacomb?
Quoted from TheLaw:Well now that my Stars is finally done.
exactly one year? Was PATZ supposed to be last weekend?[quoted image]
That cleaned up nice. Nah PATZ is still 3 weeks away. I just finished up a Frontier I’ve been working on since last summer and I’m working on Skateball now.

I just followed the dimples on the playfield from John Greatwich.
Quoted from rotordave:Yeah, that’s how I do my earths too.
F**k earth braid! Single wires baby!
rd
I just did it the original way on skateball so I thought I’d give this a shot on Star Gazer.
Quoted from TheLaw:Dammmmn I'm hungover today, BUT it was worth it. A good 10 beer Catacombs session
[quoted image]
Looking good man!
Got topside pretty much done and the lights all wired in on bottom.

I really like the little lamp test board I got from Pinitech: you know right away whether the problem is the board or the socket. Fathom had a problem where ALL of the feature lamps intermittently went out. It was a cold solder joint on BR1 on the rectifier board, an easy fix. I like “themed” repair weekends. Next weekend will be Atari color vector games.
What tool is this? Have a link.
Not a pinball machine but still a pin, I designed these and posted them for sale. If you love classic sterns then maybe they will be your thing!
Quoted from chuckwurt:Catacomb would’ve been much better as a wide body layout.
Spoken like a big game lover
Do we need a failures of quarantine thread?
Because my Star Gazer cabinet can join that club...
Something went wrong...sanded down and repainting. Blue is back on now. White will go on next week.

Just need to either repurpose the Stingray harnesses I have, or wait till 3rd Coast releases more.
Wait for a new one. You will be happy
Quoted from rotordave:Tommy - if I was making a Star Gazer, that’s a high dollar game .. I’d spring a couple of extra bucks and have the cabinet professionally painted by a car painter with 2 Pack paint in his booth.
That’s what I do now ... costs me $400 all up ($250 USD) but it’s well worth it. I used to do them myself ... the pros make a way better job than we can do at home, and it’s not really that much more than buying all the 2 pack paint etc. That stuff is expensive!
I spend about a day prepping the cabinet, sanding, filling every staple hole, rescrewing the joints properly, removing all excess bolts, more sanding, more filling ... prep is everything. Gotta get it right or every flaw will show through.
Then I do the stencils myself.
It’s more effort ... and a couple of extra bucks ... but it’s well worth it. Imo.
Shit, if Evel Knievel is worth doing, then Star Gazer is!
The pictures don’t really show it, it’s hard to capture - but the cabinet looks like a glossy lacquered piece of furniture in person.

Too late for Star Gazer, but building a Quicksilver next and I’ll look into it for that. Thanks.
Quoted from swampfire:I’d love to know what you did the 2nd time, that looks amazing.
I didn’t clearcoat the base first this time. Just put the white directly on the blue.
Quoted from mtn-:Really like that dark blue.
Thank you. It’s hard to photograph but it’s a metallic blue. I’m sure it isn’t for everyone but I really dig the look.

Chris
I can only guess at the scorpions intent, but I’d have to assume yes.
Quoted from rotordave:Got my two cabinets back from the car painter just now.
$600 NZ for both. ($400 USD ish). Finished in 2K paint.
I did all the sanding and prep work (as per previous posts)
See all the holes and seams all screwed and filled ... like a piece of high end furniture.
Hey, if you’re gonna do it ... may as well do it properly. Look me a long time to work that out. Like, 45 years. Lol!
rd[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
What paint are you using when you stencil it then?
Quoted from rotordave:Dulux brand spray cans. They’re really good.
I bought some rustoleum spray cans when I was in the States, and to be honest it’s crap compared to the Dulux stuff we have here.
The other ones I would try on a cabinet would be Molotow - I have used the paint before and it was good, but I haven’t done stencils with it yet.
The Evel Knievel pics I posted before are done this way - 2K sprayed cabinet, Dulux spray can sprayed stencils.
rd
I used Molotow on my Flash Gordon, I think I had to order it from Germany or something but I agree it was very nice stuff. I just wish we had it more local so I could see the colors before ordering
