Quoted from swampfire:I spent 4 hours today trying to figure out why 14 feature lamps are out on my Embryon, I thought I’d nailed it when I found 2 broken wires on J4 of the lamp driver board, but after rebuilding that connector I was back at square one. Early SS pins can really test your patience sometimes.
My friend, JP, once told me "You can get in trouble on an EM, but if you really want to F*** yourself, get a solid state!"

LOL... Classic JP!

Looks really good. Did you move screws to get the lamps to line up or were they like that?
Well, the Cirqus Voltaire rebuild is pretty much done. Looks good .. and plays nice!
Just waiting for a couple of final parts to ship in from overseas to finish it off.
Guess I better find another lockdown project!
PS - see the headbox pics - I remove all the external bolts I can from the body (the timber joints are screwed and glued instead). Looks much cleaner IMO.

I just followed the dimples on the playfield from John Greatwich.

I just did it the original way on skateball so I thought I’d give this a shot on Star Gazer.
Cleaned the insides of the cabs of Whirlwind and Lord of the Rings and placed sound insulation.
The LOTR I bought last month was soooo dirty and smelled really bad (nicotine), my cloth was black no matter how many times I wiped it.
Next up is stripping the LOTR playfield, cleaning it completely, giving it a new set of rubbers and adding mods and a new Arwen plastic

How has this worked out for you? My landlord just started noticing the pop bumper noise....
Working on a playfield swap and cabinet restencil on my Paragon. Also wrapping up bringing a Bank a Ball back to life. Next will be playfield swap and cabinet stencil on my Mata Hari.

It 'takes the edge off' if you know what I mean..
4 out of our 5 machines have this put in.
My Whirlwind spinning disks are awful to listen to, but this really reduces the noise!
The effect is the same as putting a big carpet in a empty room, the echo is reduced.
So the mechanical sounds have not dissapeared, but have become more bearable to listen to and also a bit more quiet.
I can't tell you if it has a negative effect on the sub (it uses the cabinet as a subwoofer box) because I don't have the games very loud, and also have not upgraded those speakers yet.
Not really working on a game so much as I am messing around with multi-camera streaming - one camera for the playfield, another for the score (or the player)
Kind of a fun "I'm bored and I have access to too much tech" project, using OBS Studio (free) and two webcams (one fairly new, one old and low res). I started out moving the roller shade I use when I'm doing a web conference for work (because I moved my desk back a few feet to make room for a 3rd pin) and next thing you know I had Picture-in-Picture going, and FB Live Streaming using a Stream Key instead of the regular PC cam & mic.
Restored a Black Knight and a Street Fighter II that had been sitting in my garage for almost a year.

We have your game's cousin, Flight 2000". Both games are beautiful when spruced up, as yours certainly is, and have those cool asymmetrical playfields.
Nice work!

Nice, hope that use a big bag of warm on these

They should do.
Make great pin haulers!
It fits 2 in the back, end on end, no problems.

What do you have in mind for the backbox?
New build wood finished whitewater blue with appropriate topper holes lock etc drilled out. I will transfer all my hardware onto it and apply decals. Seller of my game is an operator and has a cab maker he said could do it. If he falls through then I’ll look at my options.
I put my Idle hands-on Baywatch!
complete tear down all mechs taken apart cleaned repaired if needed. new coil sleeves all around rebuild pop bumpers flippers, etc.. new decals for the cab coming. Already clear coated the playfield
I’m focusing on fixing lamp issues on all of my older pins. I really like the little lamp test board I got from Pinitech: you know right away whether the problem is the board or the socket. Fathom had a problem where ALL of the feature lamps intermittently went out. It was a cold solder joint on BR1 on the rectifier board, an easy fix. I like “themed” repair weekends. Next weekend will be Atari color vector games.
