Long time since posting - break provides a lot of work time.

Working on a Sorcerer that was a basket case.

Finished my shuttle, still have time on my hands maybe too much. Installed a set of comet optimax Amber/Orange LEDs in my dog over the weekend. Maybe too bright but I definitely think it'll give her a leg up on the squirrels at night.

LOL, I was going to say those look like extra brite LED's.

I rebuilt the drop target assembly on my Dr. Dude this morning. Now they "snap" down rather than slowly "slide" down. Much more fun.

What a difference a week makes.

It only took 10 years to get around to it too!

Playfield is pretty much done as well. Just got to reinstall it all and make it all work!

Waiting to get some NOS plastics for LAH. A few are cracked. Crane can not be removed because the release bolt is broken off. Have to figure out a way to fix that.

That game is so pretty when it's all spiffed up! I'm going to sneak over there disguised as a parcel so I can play it when you fire it up.

Not a pin, but a fun project. Just finished restoring the Donkey Kong Jr machine I picked up right before all the craziness started. Aside from a good cleaning, reglued the base, rebuilt the control panel/joystick and installed new bezel frames, trim, instruction stickers, coin door parts, marquee bulbs, locks, power cord/switch, buttons, and recapped the monitor. Also created a new wood circuit board frame to hold a dkjr to edge connector, edge to jamma converter and (currently) a jamma 60-in-1 that I may replace in the future with a raspberry pi setup. I mounted the new frame directly under the monitor shelf and used wing nuts for quick access so the frame can be removed with all the boards in seconds if I ever need to work on it. The nice thing with this setup is that I can convert it back to a stock dkjr in minutes by just removing the new circuit board shelf and reconnecting the cables to the original boards.

Next on the project list: restoring a Black Hole, Fire!, Cyclone and Centigrade 37.

... And sorta-pinball project #2 for today. Based on Wolfmarsh design: a 96" long x 30" deep x 40" high workbench where I can actually work on my pinball restore projects without having to commandeer the dining room table. Just gotta install the tops, put a back ledge on it to keep stuff from falling behind it and hang my pegboard/power strip. Pretty sure this is going to be the best 75 bucks worth of materials I've ever spent.

Not a pilot. Just started with an Air Aces, found a Bon Voyage, then I decided I needed a Supersonic and eventually found a Sky Kings. Would like a Hang Glider too. I have to be careful, I could be the 'cat lady' of pinball and just keep them all that I get my hands on...

Finally getting around to fixing up a Jokerz that we have had forever. I bought the NOS playfield 4 years ago and just never had time to get to it. Still hunting for decent ramps and upper playfield. Also, taking this opportunity to teach myself to put everything on molex connectors. One of the few bright sides of Coronacation.......

Repair of Big Game finished!! Repinned all wired connectors and replaced all the board connectors, including the 5 displays. Always a pleasure to help making a game play great again. Game is ready to go back to the owner so he can do the playfield work on it before it goes out to one of his locations.

Now continuing on Spectrum! that I posted earlier about in the thread upon replacing the sound board connector.

    Cirqus Voltaire ringmaster issues ...

Diagnosed a faulty gearbox ... dismantled and found one of the small gears is spinning on the shaft. Not uncommon ... I fixed my Dr Who expander gearbox years ago, same issue.

Now to try and fix it!

That’s a surprisingly complex gearbox. I’ve never seen more than 2 before.

    #288 1 year ago

Attempts to fix it failed .. and there’s no room to braze the small gear on due to clearance issues.

So ... have to buy a new one. $80 USD.

Oh well, the pin doesn’t owe me much. They were pretty reasonable back in 2010.

Finished a Bally Playboy swap with a CPR PF. Now on an NOS clearcoated Bally Strikes & Spares PF swap. This has a pile of lamps right in the middle of the PF. I installed new lamps and power braid before dropping the old on top. Amazing how every switch / lamp dimple is correctly lined compared to a CPR......

I spent 4 hours today trying to figure out why 14 feature lamps are out on my Embryon, I thought I’d nailed it when I found 2 broken wires on J4 of the lamp driver board, but after rebuilding that connector I was back at square one. Early SS pins can really test your patience sometimes.
