Not a pinball. But pinball cleaning stuff is in it.

My 47 year old metal cabinet with the crappy brown front got a coat of paint today. It's an old width. 42 inches. Modern ones are 36 inches or 48 inches. And this older size fits the spot it's in so it never got replaced.

    Looks better now.

I got a few upgrades and repairs coming in for my Addams Family, need to repair the sound board (I think that's the cause) replace the fliptronics board for aesthetic reasons, I got a few LEDs to replace, general cleaning and maintenance, and I have both a LED and a GI OCD board coming in a few days. also a few wire fixes here and there also see if i can touch up the translite, its original and signed by Christina Ricci, so no replacing it. I'll keep me busy. Then I'll fight the urge to trade the machine for a Theater of Magic. I just miss playing that game a lot in college.

I'll have pics coming when I the parts.

Finished cleaning and straightening the last two sections in a cabinet. Safely stored there is a gift from 12 years ago from a RGP friend.

I have never used it. I take it out occasionally and think of the thoughtfulness of the person who sent it to me.

I'll treasure it for many years to come.

    Stenciling cabinets day!

Today was pretty cold, so the paint took a while to dry ... but I got both cabinets done with the first colour.

I’ll hit them with the second colour tomorrow, weather permitting.

Thanks to Danni for being my sticker holding assistant!

Working through the punch list on Special Force. Sanded and repainted side rails check, LED kit installed check, rubber kit installed check, test assembly check. I am debating painting the coin door the same green as the side rails, I think it will give it some character rather than the solid flat black face.

Well.....I was hoping to start working on tearing down my WCS94 and give it the clean and upgrade it’s been needing for years now. But......my Demo Man has to go and be a little bitch and start giving “claw out of range” errors all the sudden. And now has jumped it’s way to the front of the line . It’s been due for a cleaning too, but I’m not looking forward to tearing apart all those wire forms and ramps .

Space Mission playfield is officially shopped and ready to be played. Still want to clean the score reels and clean out the inside of the pedestal. Was hoping to have somewhat of an open house for pinball by now this year but you-know-what changed my plans

Cleaning out the drawers on the showcase in my business.

Found some neat stuff. A picture of Jackson playing pinball while I'm inside it soldering something. A picture of Greg Algaard and me at Expo around 2003. There was a guy following us for about 45 minutes. I was getting ready to turn around and punch him. Greg glanced back and said "it's Wolffy". Somebody else happened to take a picture right then. And while my record collection is long lost and gone. I did find a 33 1/3 RPM album size translucent red vinyl record. Reverse side has about a 15 minute of Brown Sugar. Produced by the band, audio is excellent.

I ordered a shooter housing from PBR for my Space Mission. I’m doing a cabinet repaint and felt the old one was good but not good enough for the repaint. I received it today and am very happy with it. Huge difference in my opinion. No more chips or discoloration. The new one is shiny and perfect although it doesn’t have the “W” logo. PBR makes great parts.

Pretty much finished Special Force, reorganized the garage work area yesterday and in the process created another game room but at least I have some room to move around and was able to pull out a jukebox project that was buried behind the arcade games. Installed NVRAM into Special Force and finished painting the coin box this evening, almost time to move a few machines out of the game room and move these 3 in.

Frankenstein that was in a bar for 5 years. Surprisingly not much needed to be done, mainly cleaning and fixing/replacing plastics. These Sega version 3b games are tanks.

    Quoted from Colsond3:

Curious, what are you using for polish? I’ve been using Quick Glo and Flitz, but looking to try something different.

I started with 60 grit on my Orbital sander to remove the dings and scratches. I went up to 220 on the sander and then swapped to a sanding block. I took that in steps up to 2000 grit before finishing with Mother’s Mag and aluminum polish. Way too much work (about 3 hours on each rail). There has to be a better way.

That’s a lot of polishing for side rails!

I’m a great “reuser” of parts - but a new set of bright shiny annealed side rails is like $60 NZD so I just buy new ones. They’re made by Railways in Australia.

The new ones can be ordered with no nail holes too, so you can use tape to hold them, same as the modern pins. Gives a real nice smooth look. And you don’t hit them with your hammer.

Surely there’s someone stateside who makes these?

I just did a full tear down on a Bally Safari. Picked it up last month for my daughter (she’s all about tigers and large cats), and the game was a complete disaster. Cab was painted over, but the PF cleaned up very nice. I’ll have to redo the touchups the prior owner did around the pops.

Already in the middle of three other projects, so not exactly sure why I started this one. LOL.

But she wanted it done, and she’s the boss. I told her she’d have to contribute, and she is.

I'm awaiting boards for Flash, so I'm re-doing some paint repair I did to Sea Ray several years ago. Bondo glazing putty and hand-painted acrylic look good enough to not draw the eye after a couple of coats of clear and then wax. This is an area of green nearly done painting, and a blue area just after putty application. Mind you, my goal is to retain as much of the original as I can, while diminishing glaring faults:
    IMG_1398 (resized).JPGIMG_1398 (resized).JPG
Now that it's sanded and painted, it looks about as good as I can get it. It's not as smooth as if it had been sanded with a block, but I wanted to leave as much original paint as possible. Other than the Bondo, everything I've done can be removed with IPA.

I started to work on my Space Mission coin door. The inside brackets were too far gone to polish and plating is too pricey. My solution was to clean in my ultrasonic and paint. I still need to polish the door, but here is a picture of the inside stuff.
