I have so many stencil kits and so many cabs to paint. Gotta get on that in the fall. Most are old Bally pins.

I didn’t clearcoat the base first this time. Just put the white directly on the blue.

Thank you. It’s hard to photograph but it’s a metallic blue. I’m sure it isn’t for everyone but I really dig the look.

I replaced the bottom panel of the cabinet. Next is fixing the lower edge of the particle board back panel.

What're you gonna' use for the particle board repair?

    #511 1 year ago

I just got my dads Firepower up and running, needed some board repair and a new solenoid. Now I'm working on doing some tweaks and upgrades to my Addams Family. Thinking about getting/installing a LED OCD into the machine. was also kicking around the idea of selling/trading TAF towards a Theater of Magic. I do have a new play field for TAF I could be installing, just not that brave yet

Starting the paint process on my #HS. Cabinet prepped, primed and black laid down. Will be spraying clear tomorrow in preparation for the next 3 colors.
Primed, Guide coated and based with black.

Got the clear applied to the cabinet and head. Let it sit for a couple days then on to the stencil process.

Body now done, small spot of blue touch up but overall really happy with how it came out.

Got my two cabinets back from the car painter just now.

$600 NZ for both. ($400 USD ish). Finished in 2K paint.

I did all the sanding and prep work (as per previous posts)

See all the holes and seams all screwed and filled ... like a piece of high end furniture.

Hey, if you’re gonna do it ... may as well do it properly. Look me a long time to work that out. Like, 45 years. Lol!

What paint are you using when you stencil it then?

    #529 1 year ago
    Quoted from Tsskinne:

Dulux brand spray cans. They’re really good.

I bought some rustoleum spray cans when I was in the States, and to be honest it’s crap compared to the Dulux stuff we have here.

The other ones I would try on a cabinet would be Molotow - I have used the paint before and it was good, but I haven’t done stencils with it yet.

The Evel Knievel pics I posted before are done this way - 2K sprayed cabinet, Dulux spray can sprayed stencils.

Added pinsound and speakers to STTNG and this led to replacement of all the bridges and capacitors including c2, c4 and c8 and replacement of the header pins and connectors for j120 and 121. Installed heavy gauge wire to the pins that tended to melt to carry the current and move resistance heat off board (2nd rebuild of these). New flipper bats and rubber.

Super happy with the outcome. Game plays so much faster and the incandescent bulbs are glowing stronger everywhere with no visible strain related pulsing. Looks spectacular.

I used Molotow on my Flash Gordon, I think I had to order it from Germany or something but I agree it was very nice stuff. I just wish we had it more local so I could see the colors before ordering

Replaced u20 on my BSD. This chip was failing, as it was causing a couple of the castle lock targets to not respond during gameplay (yet still functioned in test mode.)

New arrival this afternoon after a 5 hour round trip. Previous owner said it wouldn’t coin up. Reseated a few connectors and used the magic number ‘65’ and she plays once again. Tear down in progress.

Cool game - I always loved those multi-layer jungle plastics.

I'm spending a few days away from Flash, whose board repairs were a failure. Rottendog or Kahouts in the plan one of these days. Meanwhile, I'm polishing the rails on my beloved Sea Ray. An amazing amount of black stuff comes off:IMG_1381 (resized).JPG

Was supposed to be working on games today. Now I’m sitting in a lawn chair at the end of my driveway watching the hillsides burn. Crazy wild fire up here in Cave Creek.
Thankfully planes laid fire retardant all day so they blocked the eastern spread which is the path of our house. Wind changed about an hour ago and it’s heading south now.
Right now it’s about 2-3 miles from the house, so staying up to watch it in the event it changes direction and we need to get out. They evacuated people a mile to west of us.
On my third cup of coffee now.
Photos from the end of my driveway.

    Quoted from dirkdiggler:

It’s pretty crazy to watch, especially from your own driveway.
I’m really impressed with how they have dealt with fighting it so far.
They had planes dropping retardant along the ridge of the hills all day as a fire break. Basically the flames get up to that point and then burn out. When it first hits the ridge it looks crazy as a wave of fire rolls over the top.
Sound like they are getting it under control, but it’s burned over 1000 acres so far.

I could see it from the roof of my house as well. Much closer to you though. Stay safe Kent!

    Thanks.
We’re good, stayed up till 5:30am watching it just to be sure which direction it was heading. Looks like it’s done moving this way, but still burning south of us.
The craziest part was there’s a house us on the hill to the west that I watched a fire team put out fires leading up to three different sides of that house at various parts of the night. That guy literally has a horseshoe shaped burn pattern around his house.
