    Quoted from brenna98:

This has been talked about before in owners treads and total annihilation thread and others.
If stern can build PBR, they can do the classic sterns.
I've hear the drop target banks are expensive, but that's BS. It's just bent flat steal with holes.
Price will be a factor, but if it's cheaper than the build I'm doing on stargazer, I'm all for it.

I think the drop target banks will be much more expensive to build today as compared to 40 years ago. There's alot of machining that has to be done to make the shafts, links, plungers etc. And then they have to pay to have them assembled. Even then, the quality of the metal parts used was very poor. I have torn these apart and noticed much more wear than Bally or Gtb drops have. They definitely need to up the quality of the metal if they were to do this.

is there anybody making a true replica of a standard classic Stern cab? My Seawitch, I believe, has weathered super storm Sandy. The outer cab is severely planked and I don't think I can save it.
My Meteor isn't much better. I have a restored and cleared pf waiting to go in. I would really like to get new cabs for these games someday.

Well, everything is more expensive than 40 years ago....but don't count on those parts being made in the US. I'm sure there are a lot of foreign parts in a modern Stern, and you're going to see some made in China stickers somewhere in your new Stern game. We get a lot of our metal parts (some steel, but mostly aluminum) manufactured in China, super cheap compared to US. It's so cheap that any defective fallout is simply scrapped and we still save costs.

Yeah, I didn't even think about using foreign metals. What I meant by being more expensive in today's world is that it seems We're not as industrialized as we once were. Everything is made of plastic. The cost ratio to make the same parts today is probably much higher. Not only would it be cool to have these old parts reproduced for the new games but it could make it possible for us to buy replacements for our worn out parts, especially the drop target assemblies.
