Just to clarify about the lane change flipper features in Cosmic Gunfight, you actually do 3 different things on this game related to flipper button lane changing. There are 3 lanes on the top right and the lane change for those is the right flipper button. There are two lanes on the top left and the lane change for those is the left flipper button.

Plus, as described before, you have the Cosmic Ball Targets with three rows of lights (row A, row B, row C) below three stationary targets (a total of nine lights). There is an arrow next to each row of lights. If you hit a target, you get credit for the light that intersects the target column and the lit row arrow. So, you need some way to change the lit rows to light up all nine of these decals. To do this, you have to push BOTH flipper buttons at the same time to move the lit arrow down one row or back to the top from the bottom.

Cosmic Gunfight is the ONLY game I have ever played that actually uses the flippers to control 3 distinctly different lane change activities. Can anyone think of any other game that does this?

Quoted from spfxted:

Sheesh!...I didn't even know Cosmic Gunfight did it!

I could see it being less than intuitive to realize that both flipper buttons move the arrow light, specifically because there are a few contacts behind rubbers on the playfield that also change the lit arrow when closed (e.g., at least one near the bumpers).

Quoted from LBJ:

The only goal in multiball that I know of was trying to hit the moving green light on the drop targets, it cycled to each 3 bank during MB & I believe it was worth 20K/hit

Another goal in multiball is to, well, keep multiple balls in play...but only while also continually hitting switches, targets, rollovers, etc. You see, the total amount of cosmic time you get to play if you earn cosmic ball is increased by the period of time you keep both balls in play. However, the designers thought about this feature long and hard, and realizing that folks would just hold both balls with the flippers, they made it such that you had to keep registering contact, switch, etc. hits to increase the time. So, if you catch both balls and hold them during multiball...the time will not increase. You can see the amount of cosmic time you have built up in the window that also shows the # of the current ball.

The way to add time during regular one ball play is:
Each time you complete a set of three targets it adds a few seconds to the time. To add time this way, you do not need to complete the three targets in sequence (as contrasted with getting the extra ball lit, which does require completing all 3 target sets in sequence).

I also like setting the game adjustments so that the in-lanes light the advance multiplier shot for only a short period of time (20 seconds? not sure). This adds some challenge and time pressure to that right lane to the top shot. Otherwise, on default setting, either in-lane will light the advance multiplier shot and keep it lit until you make the shot.

The ultimate: Get the bonus multiplier to 5 times, start the double scoring, and get multi-ball going simultaneously...then watch the points soar and enjoy the very lengthy end of ball bonus counting effects!
