Hello,
From a late 70's Bally Strikes and Spares. I had a 60 VAC short to ground. We traced it and found the Cornell Dubilier Elec Radio Noise Filter had failed. The Varistor was still in tact. We have removed the filter for now but I would like to replace it with a new one. Does anyone have a mfg/part number for a currently manufactured item that I can purchase and use as a replacement? Please advise, thanks Al (photo of item attached)

I would suspect that a properly rated EMI filter could drop right in. I just don't know if 2x5A means 10A.

Here's a 10A one.
Something like https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Qualtek/851-10-007

Thanks Yaksplat, We are unsure as well. I have 5 - late 70's Bally machines and they all have the same component. The Strikes and Spares machine operates without filter in place but we can see some noise in the power on the scope. I am unsure if the noise will affect anything. Let's see if anyone else knows what the 2X5 means.

The 2 x 5A means there is a 5A suppressor coil in both sides of line (live and neutral). Maximum current through the filter is still 5A though, because same current flows in both wires. So a 5 amp replacement is OK.

Thanks for the clarification Tuukka, my son was of the same opinion that there were two suppressors, one on each line at 5A. I see Newark and Newegg list some. We will have a look and order one.

Common ones include:
Corcom (Tyco) -- 5VB1 & 5EB1
Delta -- 05DBAG5
Qualtek -- 851-05/005

There are other less common ones such as TDK:

And there are tons of Chinese filters where you wonder if there is actually anything inside them.

Thanks G-P-E, I have ordered the delta 05DBAG5 (2 pcs). I have 5 Bally machines of the same era so spare parts are required. The specifications look fine. Hopefully they work OK.
